General Assembly

Our online General Assembly is coming up July 10-11 and here's how we should be getting ready!

First, get registered! The registration fee is only $30 for access to all the action. You'll be able to watch from anywhere, but we encourage you to join with other Disciples at one of our host churches.

Find a host church near you. Right now our host churches are the First Christian Churches in Macon, Kirksville, and Frankford, plus Affton CC and Millersburg CC. We are hoping to add locations in the Mineral area and the southwest. Don't see a location near you? - Look into your church hosting! Here's a link to the sign-up form that can give you an idea of what's involved.

Choose your congregational delegates. Each congregation can have three voting representatives, in addition to all clergy with current standing. Refer to this guide for information about the responsibilities of delegates as well as suggestions for their selection. Delegates are then invited to an informational session on June 9 at 7:00 pm.

Help your congregation stay involved. Here's a resource guide that includes reflections, prayers, liturgy components, and a blessing for delegates.

Supporting Those Who Serve

First Christian Church in Kirksville recently raised $360 in gift cards to send to Coast Guard families in St. Louis who were struggling during the government shutdown and other cutbacks.

Join us on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00am for this free webinar brought to us by the National Benevolent Association and Older Adult Ministries.

Learn what ageism is, and how can we push back. An intergenerational panel will share experiences and views, offering ideas for action. Bring your thoughts and plan to share during our discussion and feedback time.
