Reconciliation Grants Awarded
The Reconciliation Ministry is pleased to announce this year’s approved grant recipients:
Arrow Rock Federated Church, the sponsoring congregation of Voices of Arrow Rock, has been awarded funding for this impactful Readers Theatre series. Voices of Arrow Rock has been approved as an ARPR Justice Ministry event because it brings to life underrepresented voices from Arrow Rock, Missouri’s history. Through this production, participants have encountered diverse perspectives that spark meaningful conversations about injustice—both historically and in our present experiences. Many of these stories resonate deeply, opening the door for transparent dialogue and deeper reflection.
Fifth Street Christian Church in Columbia, Missouri, will use its grant to support Juneteenth activities. Last year’s event drew a wide and diverse audience, creating a space where people from all walks of life could learn and grow together. As stated in their application: “With the support of the Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation Justice Ministry, we will host a two-day festival in Columbia, MO, featuring multicultural worship performances, anti-racism workshops, youth engagement activities, fashion, and community resource booths. This initiative will directly address racial division by fostering authentic relationships, dismantling stereotypes, and promoting reconciliation through shared experiences.”
Planning is already underway, and additional information can be found on their website.
Union Avenue Christian Church (Be the Neighbor) continues its commitment to youth engagement through anti-racism service and justice-learning trips. This summer, 90 youth and young adults from six congregations across the country will gather at Union Avenue over four weeks. Participants will learn how to be faithful neighbors who work for anti-racism in their communities through direct service, advocacy, education, and justice-seeking. This experience marks the beginning of their ongoing journey, as they return home equipped to share what they’ve learned and put it into action locally.
ARPR Justice Ministry grants are made possible through the generous support of congregations that give to the Reconciliation Offering. This collective generosity from faith communities across Mid-America fuels our region’s commitment to justice education and reconciliation work. We encourage all congregations to prayerfully consider how they are called to engage in justice-seeking and to apply for a Reconciliation grant to support that work.
