Disciple U

Disciples U has been created to provide opportunities for laity to grow in their faith and understanding of who we are as Disciples, and to whom we belong, by offering studies and discussions in the areas of Biblical Studies, Congregational Development, Ethics & Justice, and Theology. These will occur online once per quarter, with some opportunities for in person workshops/studies.

These opportunities are specifically designed for laity, though commissioned and ordained clergy may take them to satisfy their professional development obligations, provided they submit a reflection paper.

Our first opportunity is an 8-week Bible study on the Book of Revelation beginning Sunday October 4, from 6-7:30pm

RMN Awarded Grant

Our Rural Ministry Network has been awarded an $8,000 grant by the Oreon E. Scott Foundation. The award letter stated, "The Trustees were moved by the vision and quality of applications this year. They are grateful to partner with you and excited to see the good that will come from your initiative."

The RMN is thrilled for this support and how it will enable them to continue to connect and equip our rural congregations.

Professor Clint McCann to Speak on the Psalms during WGCC’s 9/14 Zoom Bible Study

The Webster Groves CC Bible Study group will begin its study of the Psalms on Monday, September 14, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. All are invited and encouraged to attend and participate in this special session. Our first session will be led by the Rev. Dr. J. Clinton McCann, Jr. Clint is the Walter Brueggemann Evangelical Professor of Biblical Interpretation at Eden Theological Seminary, and is a renowned scholar of the Psalms. Professor McCann will be leading us through an overview of the Psalms, and he will be suggesting key themes to look for as we study together. Fall Labyrinth Retreat

Rock Bridge CC in Columbia invites all to their free Fall Labyrinth Retreat on Saturday, September 19. Rev. Kim Leon will lead a morning of learning and exploration of labyrinths, including a brief presentation, time for a labyrinth walk and/or finger labyrinth practice, and opportunities to reflect, meditate, pray, and create. The event is free but they ask for reservations by September 14 so they can prepare for all. Learn more and register>

Changes at FCC in Kirksville

Out with the 56-year-old HVAC system and in with the new.. This building improvement at FCC in Kirksville is made possible through a capital campaign and a $400,000 investment and partnership with the Disciples Church Extension Fund. During this construction the congregation is meeting in the church fellowship hall. While the sanctuary is empty, they are making needed repairs and upgrades to that space as well.

Women Empowering Women
