GIFT CARD DRIVE

Holiday Help
Can you help us get gift cards for our Social Work program?  Washburn currently has about 30 students who are identified as Homeless/Highly Mobile. We also have many families who are facing housing or food instability. Can you imagine trying to be a teenager and worrying about basic needs such as shelter, food, or clothing? Thanks for your support of our own Millers who could use some extra support during the holiday season!

This year we are collecting gift cards from the following stores. Cards in any amount help. Cards can be mailed to the school (attn: Erica Lebens-Englund) or they can be brought to the main office.
  • Walmart (*most requested)
  • Cub
  • Target
  • Walgreens
*Cash or check donations can also be accepted in lieu of gift cards. Checks can be written to the "Washburn Parent Council" with Washburn Cares in the subject line. Cash donations will help the committee offer yearbooks & prom tickets at a discounted price for students in need.
BARNES & NOBLE BOOKFAIR

Mark you calendars for Washburn's Barnes & Noble book sale on Sat 12/2! All proceeds will benefit our Media Center and add books to our collection to better service students. Teachers have also created some wishlists so you can support them as well with a purchase.

GIVE TO THE MAX DAY

Thanks for the Donations!
Thank you to our many donors on Give to the Max day! Your generosity helped us break over the $10,000 mark this year. Woo-hoo! If you forgot to donate, there's still time! Visit Washburn's GiveMn info online

QUIZ BOWL

Quiz Bowl Tournament
Washburn's Quiz Bowl team has started the official Quiz Bowl tournament season with a fantastic showing in Roseville. Our two teams went 4-0 and 2-2 in the first of three regular season competitions. The team also represented Washburn at tournaments at St. Olaf and at Shattuck St. Mary's, and will represent the school at the University of Minnesota in December. Washburn is the only Minneapolis Public School high school in these competitions, so we are representing Minneapolis as well as Washburn! If you see our Quiz Bowl members, give them a high-five for their friendly attitudes, competitive spirits, and knowledge of sometimes meaningless factoids. The teams from Thursday consisted of: Reeve Coon, Colin Farnham, Kathyrn Hillmer, Lucus Pierce-Ralph, Makala Roberson, Alison Thorson, Patricia Thorson, and Lucas Woychick.
TWIN CITIES SCIENCE FAIR
