Medtronic Field Trip
As part of the career exploration opportunities offered by the CCC, Washburn took over 30 students who are interested in STEM to visit the Medtronic campus in Moundsview 2/6/17.

We engaged in a career fair, handled some medical equipment, and split up into small teams with a Medtronic mentor to brainstorm technological solutions to current societal issues. The students heard about the steps of a journey from high school to a career at Medtronic and had the opportunity to ask questions. The brainstorm session allowed them to think creatively and utilize what they learn at school in a professional workspace to think like an engineer.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Tom Cowhitt, Social Studies Teacher
Tom is an innovative teacher and a wonderful colleague; known for being respectful and driven.  He's been working very hard since the day he walked through these doors less than three years ago. Just a couple of his achievements include taking on a new IB History curriculum, bringing in (among others) Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar as guest speakers for Government students, co-leading peer jury during the spring of 2016, and leading Tuesday PD. He's done all of this and managed to be a professional St. Paul Winter Carnival Medallion hunter as well! So nice to send our congratulations to Tom Cowhitt this week!
