TAKE THE BUDGET PRIORITIES SURVEY
Please consider taking time to give Washburn feedback around budget priorities for the 2017-2018 school year. Your answers help us make important budgeting decisions. The following survey asks brief questions that help us understand what our families value most.
School budgets will be given to Principals next week and there is a very quick turn around to make decisions.
Please take the survey ASAP to have your feedback considered!

The test is free of charge to them. The test will take approximately 4-4.5 hours.

The test is broken up into 5 sections:

Science - 35 minutes
Writing - 40 minutes.
Other Important Reminders
- We encourage students to arrive by 8:00am to begin checking in.

- Students are encouraged to bring at least two #2 pencils and an ACT-approved calculator to the exam (see www.act.org for a complete list of approved calculators).
- Cell phones, tablets, Apple Watches, and other electronics are not allowed in the testing rooms. Students should leave all personal belongs, including their cell phones, in their locker during the test
No food or drink can be brought into the testing area (this includes water bottles)
- Per ACT regulations, students who violate any of the rules risk having their test invalidated and will be dismissed. Reasons for dismissal include but are not limited to:
- cell phone or electronic noise heard
- use of a cell phone even at a break
- bubbling after time is called
- The test will conclude at approximately 1:00-1:30pm with bagged lunches being served immediately after the test for those who want a school lunch. Juniors WILL NOT HAVE REGULARLY SCHEDULED CLASSES AFTER THE TEST AND MAY LEAVE AFTER THE TEST.

WASHBURN IS HEADED TO THE STATE TOURNAMENT FOR THE FIRST TIME!
Due to our great season, we will be receiving an invite to the Math League State Tournament Team Contest. Our team of eight (plus an alternate) will compete against the best of the best in the state on Monday, March 13th at South Saint Paul High School.
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
Two of our students finished in the top 10 of the Minneapolis Division. Luke Peichel finished the season tied for seventh place, and that's even after missing out on tonight's meet. Pretty impressive season for him. And another Washburn student ended up as the Minneapolis Division leader and earned a spot in the State Invitational Event for individuals -- our own Max Lindemann! In addition to Washburn's first trip to the State Tournament as a team, Max will be Washburn's first student to get the invite as an individual. Great finish to a great Math Team career for Max.

VOLUNTEERS & DONATIONS NEEDED
Race 2 Justice Day
We are creating a
room for our presenters for Race 2 Justice Day to welcome them to Washburn. We are seeking donations and a couple volunteers to help that day. We are specifically seeking the following donations:
Please consider volunteering for the All-Night Senior Party on 6/7/17! We could not offer such a fun, safe event without you. Miller parents are the best!
We also use a "pay it forward" volunteer model asking parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th graders to volunteer for the event.
Please note we need many volunteers (over 20) to provide adequate supervision at the facility. Grab your spouse, call a friend, and make it a fun night by being with people you know! Sign up here!
The Parent Council Spring Plant Sale is coming soon! If you're interested in being involved please contact the co-chairs for volunteer opportunities.
Let's think Spring!
The ordering site is live.
Visit our site to plan for spring planting all while supporting Washburn. Orders ready before Mother's Day!

MPS MEETINGS FOR IMMIGRANT & REFUGEE FAMILIES
Michael O'Connor, TOSA Admin
Michael O'Connor took on a new rule this year, taking a break from his work as a science teacher to become an Admin TOSA (teacher on special assignment). He's been a great addition to the Admin team as he brings many skills such as a calm demeanor, approachable, and great with data. His many years as a teacher help tremendously in his new role. We're lucky to have him at Washburn. Thanks for all you do Michael!
