TEACHER MEAL FOR CONFERENCES

Donations Needed!
Please consider helping to provide a meal before conferences for our hard working staff. Please We need all food items delivered by 8:30am on Tuesday Oct. 17th . Items can be brought to the main office or dropped off at the security desk at door #10.  The meal is served from 3:00-4:00pm  so it's really important that items are delivered in the morning so we have time to adjust if all items are not delivered. Thanks!
HOMECOMING DANCE

Homecoming 2017 is coming!  The  football game is on 10/13 @ 7:00pm and the dance will be on 10/14 @ 7:00-10:00pm at Washburn. Tickets are on sale now until  Friday 10/13. Tickets are $15 each.  Tickets will only be sold during lunches in the concession stands across from the big gym; cash only. You cannot buy tickets on the day of the event.

Homecoming 101

THEME:  "Rock & Roll" [for Seniors Only]
DRESS ATTIRE:  For 9th-11th Grade students dress up; not Prom formal, but look your best!
PICTURES:  No professional pictures offered at the dance
DATES:  Going with one date is not required; often the most fun is to come with a big group of friends
TICKETS: Tickets are sold for 2 week prior to the dance during all lunches. When students pay $15 they will be added to a guest list and will not receive an actual ticket. Their name HAS to be on the guest list by 10/12 in order to be admitted to the dance. STUDENTS CANNOT PAY MONEY AT THE DOOR! Student picture IDs are required for entrance.
GUESTS: Students can bring guests to the dance if they complete the guest form and turn in by Oct. 11 @ 4:00pm
TIME: The dance is from 7:00-10:00pm; students must arrive by 8:00pm to be admitted (doors lock at 8:00pm and check-in closes; don't be late!)
COAT CHECK: We are NOT offering a coat check option this year; students must keep with them any item they bring; only small purses/clutches are allowed

Rules -- Things to review with your student:
  • Students must arrive by 8:00pm to be admitted into the dance;
  • If you leave the dance, you cannot return; no in/out privileges;
  • If a student is seen to be intoxicated in any form, they will be escorted out of the dance and will lose dance privileges for the remaining of the school year. This includes being found in possession of substances. We take this VERY seriously;
  • We discourage the use of Party Buses as often they encourage a party atmosphere that frequently includes drinking. Also, there are many companies that do not have reputable business practices and take advantage of teens;
  • For the safety of all students, our security team will be doing searches of all who enter the dance. No drugs, no weapons, no outside food & drink (refreshments provided at the dance).
Parent Volunteers Needed
Please consider helping with decorating for the dance. We REALLY need parent help with making our school a beautiful venue for this fun dance. Slots available Friday afternoon & Saturday morning 10/13 & 10/14.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Tom Piersma, Math Teacher
Math teacher, Tom Piersma, is the staff of the week! Apart from him being an amazing teacher, what stands out about him is his leadership and willingness to step in to assume responsibility where and when it is needed. He's a great problem solver and is very invested in his relationships with students. He's always striving to be better and many colleagues have learned so much from him.  A round of applause for Tom!!
