Hello Marianna,

Only one more month until Spring. We're almost there (not that I'm counting)! I hope through these remaining winter weeks you are staying well and, if you are local, enjoying some outdoor time in the mild season we are having thus far.

In Case You Missed It: We have received several phone calls over the last few weeks regarding the availability of 1099's. Every January, National Financial Services (NFS) begins preparing your tax documents. While you may have begun to receive e-notifications from Commonwealth Financial Network (CFN), please note that 1099's are generally not fully available until the end of February and beginning of March, at which time they will be mailed to you. However, if you'd like to keep an eye on the status, as well as access the electronic document(s), you can always do so via your Investor360 account. I included further details in a recent email, as well as linked more information below, as I know you are anxiously awaiting starting your return.

In CURO News: I am excited to share a podcast with you where I partner with My Divorce Solution to discuss the common major mistakes I find are likely to occur when splitting Executive Compensation Benefits during divorce. While divorce is never a fun topic, I believe in always providing my insight for an equitable distribution of assets. Executive Compensation is tricky, so I am always grateful to have the opportunity to share my experience in the hopes of reaching those who may benefit.

In World News: It seems there is much to mourn for globally, between recent earthquakes, hazmat spills, and spy balloons. While I like to stay in-the-know about what's happening in the world, I find that dwelling on the things I cannot control feels heavy. With that in mind, I hope that each month as I pop into your inbox with our Monthly CURator, it brings a bit of sunshine and levity to your day.

Until next time,

Marianna

Insights From Our CIO:

Market Thoughts, February 2023

Brad McMillan, Commonwealth’s CIO, recaps January’s market and economic news. After a tough December, both U.S. and international markets showed gains for the month. The primary drivers were the continued drop in inflation and the decline in longer-term interest rates. Despite the market gains, the economy showed signs of slowing, with consumer spending dropping for the second month in a row and a pullback in business confidence and investment. What does this mean for the possibility of a recession in 2023?

Accessing Your Tax Documents

Every year, as they become available, your tax documents are sent to your permanent mailing address, typically by mid-March. However, we understand that there will be times you need to access your documents sooner.

If you would like to view your tax documents before they reach you by mail, or if you need to access previous years’ documents, you may do so through your Investor360 Account at any time using these step by step instructions.

Easy Eggplant Parmesan

I am Sicilian, so it goes without saying that I LOVE eggplant parmesan. What I don’t love, is the time it takes to make it. As a working mom of two boys, who are the human equivalent of energizer bunnies, spending hours to prepare a single meal, that will inevitably be inhaled in less than 10 minutes, doesn’t work for me.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands and re-create a classic dish with a few simple ingredients and minimal steps. Truthfully, the hardest part of this entire recipe is waiting for it to be done in the oven because it smells so good.

Sudoku

The popular Japanese puzzle game Sudoku is based on the logical placement of numbers. An online game of logic, Sudoku doesn’t require any calculation nor special math skills; all that is needed are brains and concentration.

The goal of Sudoku is to fill in a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, row, and 3×3 section contain the numbers between 1 to 9. At the beginning of the game, the 9×9 grid will have some of the squares filled in. Your job is to use logic to fill in the missing digits and complete the grid.
