MONTHLY DATA UPDATE

Texas Population Growth

According to the latest Vintage 2024 Population Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, Texas’s population surpassed 31 million in 2024, driven largely by net international migration, which accounted for over half of the state’s growth between 2023 and 2024.

Note: Components of change may not add to the total population change due to the minor residual components in the Census Bureau's Population Estimates.

On average, Texas gained 1,542 new residents each day between 2023 and 2024: 876 from international migration, 234 from domestic migration, and 435 from natural increase, which reflects births exceeding deaths. These figures highlight the state's position as a key destination for global migrants, as well as its continued appeal to those relocating from other parts of the United States. With new data available on immigration, the Census Bureau has also made significant revisions to their previous years’ population estimates.
