Student Success in Action: Living the Pug Life

Because of donor support, the Splendora High School Art Department was awarded a $5,920 grant in November for their project, “Living the Pug Life.”

This innovative project brings a pugmill and essential ceramic equipment into the classroom—giving students the ability to reclaim and recycle clay while learning the full science behind the art.

The impact:

• Hands-on experience in ceramics, pottery, and sculptural design
• Real-world understanding of sustainability through clay recycling
• Expanded creative opportunities with long-term cost savings

Because of this grant, students won’t just create art—they’ll understand the entire process from raw materials to finished pieces.

This is what happens when great ideas meet community support.
