  • Faculty/Staff: Must return any ITS-loaned equipment such as laptops, recorders, projectors, webcams, or microphones by their assigned due date. Upgrade from Windows 10

If your personal computer is still running Windows 10, you should upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible, as security updates ended in October 2025, leaving systems vulnerable to new threats. The upgrade is free for eligible devices; check compatibility and instructions on the Microsoft website. Faculty and staff using ETSU-provided devices should submit a ticket to the ITS Help Desk for assistance.

Phishing Alert: Fake Job Offers Targeting Students

ITS Security has noticed an increase in phishing emails promoting fake job opportunities designed to collect personal information from students. As a general rule, job offers with the following characteristics should be viewed with suspicion:

  • Promises of earning hundreds of dollars per week for minimal work
  • Fully remote positions with no requirements or experience needed
  • Flexible “make your own hours” messaging
  • Links to non-ETSU websites using ETSU branding and requesting extensive personal information
  • Instructions to reply using a non-ETSU email address

If you receive a message like this, please report it as phishing using the “Report Phish” option in the top menu of your ETSU Outlook account. We do not recommend responding to or engaging with the email in any way. Reporting phishing emails allows our automated systems to analyze the threat and remove it from other inboxes, helping protect the entire campus community.

ETSU Esports Team

The ETSU Varsity Esports division was launched in 2019 with the goal of elevating the university within the growing world of collegiate competitive gaming. Jeff Shell, Esports Head Coach, and Leigh Nutter, Production Coordinator, have led ETSU Varsity Esports to great success since the program’s inaugural 2020 season. Together, they mentor and lead the teams while coordinating travel, managing social media and promotions, maintaining equipment, hosting matches, recruiting players, and handling production tasks such as broadcasting, live streaming, audio/visual operations, and content creation.

The ETSU Varsity Esports program is student-focused and offers opportunities for teamwork, skill-building, and leadership development. In addition to players, students (gamers or not) can join the production team and put their digital media, communication, or related skills to use.

The ETSU Varsity Esports teams are having great success this season as they compete against other universities across the country in popular titles like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Overwatch, Rocket League, and more. Earlier this semester, Esports hosted the Tri-Cities Slam event, presented by Brightspeed. The event featured 24 teams from 20 colleges, 17 unique states/providences, and 100+ students. Esports production students played a pivotal role in running the 3-day event which helped generate over 43.5K impressions on social media and 3,081 total live views, in addition to the hundreds of people visiting the Cave to watch the high intensity gaming action in person. ETSU won first place in Super Smash Brothers!

For a simple, centralized way to manage daily, weekly, and project tasks, explore Microsoft Planner and Microsoft To Do. Together, these tools let you organize everything from your ETSU schedule into one digital workspace, accessible on any device through Microsoft 365. Planner helps you build structured plans with tasks and due dates, while To Do keeps a personalized list of assignments from Planner, Microsoft Teams, and more.

All ETSU users have access to these apps through their Microsoft 365 accounts, with seamless integration across the platform. To learn more, explore the Microsoft 365 apps or contact ITS at its@etsu.edu.
