Organizational Changes at AIA Canada
The first step to building and maintaining a strong and dynamic team for our association was to realign our workforce and their skills and expertise. With this in mind,  the organizational changes that AIA underwent for the past few months allowed us to review the existing structure to better ensure work flow efficiencies and tighter collaboration within departments. Please see below some of the highlights and check out the new AIA organizational chart .

New Automotive Service Provider (ASP) Council
The ASP Council is bringing together the automotive service provider sector with the aftermarket parts manufacturing and distribution networks to develop inclusive and comprehensive strategies that will address industry concerns such as skilled labour shortages, emerging technologies and market trends. The Council will be meeting regularly and will provide valuable input on AIA's upcoming initiatives.

For more information on the ASP council, please contact France Daviault, Senior Director, Stakeholder Relations.
New Study Looks at Shop Performance by Province
In 2015, the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA Canada) sponsored a survey of 572 Automotive Service Providers (ASPs), with a view to assessing the size, sales performance and intentions of the Canadian service sector. In comparison with a similar study in 2010, the hours sold per transaction show only minor change, suggesting that the efficiency of Canadian operations has changed little.

AIA S upports the Call for a Ban on the Import of Asbestos Products
Nationwide, thousands of people die each year because of exposure to asbestos.  Worker safety is a priority for AIA's members and it is our position that the automotive industry should work towards an asbestos-free industry.

Although many brakes and clutches used in new and recent model vehicles do not contain asbestos, it has not been totally eliminated. Service technicians and employees in the automotive repair shops as well as do-it-yourselfers may still be unaware that asbestos could be present in both old and replacement brakes and clutches and they could be exposed to toxic and potentially life threatening asbestos dust.

AIA asks that its members be mindful of the potential risk that continuing to use asbestos-based products could cause and work towards eliminating this material from their shops, store fronts, and manufacturing processes.
