Goffstown Public Library's
Governor Sununu has issued a stay-at-home order for NH, and that means the Goffstown Public Library as well. The Library building will be closed until at least Monday, May 4. Up-to-date information will be posted at www.goffstownlibrary.com .

During this time, no late fines will be added to your account for overdue items, and patrons can return materials when the Library reopens with no penalty - we have implemented auto-renew so most items will renew until further notice.

Staff will be working from home, but if you need assistance with online resources please send us an email at goflib@goffstownlibrary.com , or use the chat service at our website. Please do not call; there will be no one to answer the phone.

The library building may be closed, but online availability continues! We've scheduled weekly YouTube live story times & book talks, and lots of great content is available in the e-library with your library card.

If you have any other questions, please reply to this email or send a message directly to Dianne Hathaway, Library Director, at dianneh@goffstownlibrary.com .

Be well.

The To-Read Shelf
five book covers mentioned in text below
Like most passionate readers, we're sure you have many books piled up waiting for you to take the time to read them. Here are just a few our Library Director, Dianne Hathaway has on her to-read shelf:

  • Chances Are by Richard Russo
  • The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl
  • They Called Us Enemy by George Takei
  • Stay Hungry by Sebastian Maniscalco

Read how each of these ended up on Dianne's list in the next issue of the local Neighborhood News newspaper in her " Bookends " column. And keep an eye out for some of her current reads in the weeks ahead. (Can't pick up a paper copy? You can read "Goffstown News" in the e-library , issues since 2009 are available!)

Since we know many of you enjoy browsing the Staff Picks on the second floor of the Library, we're going to be sharing some of them on social media in the coming weeks. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see what staff is talking about.

Looking for a good young adult title, or books for younger kids? Patti Penick, Head of Youth Services, and Stacey Desrosiers, Teen Services staff will be posting Book Talks on our YouTube channel. Check them out at https://www.youtube.com/goffstownlibrary and don't forget to subscribe!

Now it's your turn! Since we'll be missing our chats with you at the circulation desk, around the library, and on the phone, here's where you can share what you've been reading or checking out at our e-library. Please let us know about your experiences, your suggestions, and your book reviews. You'll have the option to let us know whether you'd like us to share your comments with the public, too.

No Holds, No Waiting
Now through April 13

During this three-week digital book club, Funny, You Don’t Look Autistic: A Comedian’s Guide to Life on the Spectrum by Michael McCreary will be available with no holds or waitlists. You can read on your computer or mobile device with the OverDrive or Libby apps.

Funny, You Don't Look Autistic is stand-up comic Michael McCreary’s memoir in which he points out that autism "looks" different for just about everyone with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Diagnosed with ASD at age five, McCreary got hit with the performance bug not much later. During a difficult time in junior high, he started journaling, eventually turning his pain into something empowering—and funny.

hoopla Bonus Borrows

hoopla is now providing more than 1,000 titles that do not count towards your monthly borrow limits, and include e-books, e-audiobooks, comics, movies, music, and television! These are also free to the Library - hoopla usage has a cost associated with every borrow, so this is a great deal for everyone.

These bonus borrows are available through April 30, 2020.
