The year is half over! Next Christmas is closer than the last one! Where does the time go? Next thing we know it will Labor Day. We get so busy around here we don't know what the date is. All we know is it's ice cream social day or two day to salmon bake, etc.
Things are popping around the campus. The new water bottle filing station is getting used regularly. Please remember to bring a bottle to fill. OR You could purchase one in our relocated gift shop just off the lobby. We have converted the lightly used guest offices into our Night Services Headquarters and gift shop. Stop by and check the new items or say Hi to Peter, Caden or Shannon.
After a few delays due to regulations on the Columbia River, I was finally able to secure King Salmons again from the Yakama Tribe. We had to use different fish from Alaska for the first Salmon Bake of the year. You can really tell the difference. These are wonderful fish!
The front two tennis courts are being resurfaced this week. They will be ready for action soon. The temporary buildings are arriving on August 6th. They will provide meeting space for us during the Pines construction.
The Pines Capital Campaign is also still going on strong. On July 21st we will make the decision whether to start the project in the fall. As of today, the money is not at the level we need to proceed. There is still time to get your donations in. If we do not start in September on the replacement, we can do the infrastructure this fall and continue to raise the money for a Fall 2019 start. I know we would all be disappointed, but the Board and Staff agree that we will not risk our future with large debt. We will get this done! Pigs will fly!
I look forward to a great summer and hope to see many of you here.
Thanks,
Chuck
