The Eastcentral Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing access to primary healthcare and contributing toward the quality of health for people in our region, especially in rural and medically underserved areas. Eastcentral PA Area Health Education Center (AHEC) are presenting a Chapter 339 focused Act 48 eligible conference.

The conference is designed to inform teachers, school counselors, and administrators about in-demand careers in healthcare as well as the required academic pathways.

Event Details

All attendees will rotate through multiple sessions to learn more about specific careers in healthcare and the required training. Sessions will also showcase regional colleges and universities that offer programming aligned with the featured careers.

This is a FREE event and LUNCH will be provided.

Community Health Worker Conference

The Eastcentral and Northcentral PA AHEC offices are joining forces again to host the Second Annual Community Health Worker Conference in Boalsburg. Last year Over 110 CHWs participated in three days of learning, collaborating and networking.

SEARCH Academy

SEARCH Academy is a program offered by the Pennsylvania AHEC for high school students interested in pursuing a career in health care. Its goal is to help students identify and pursue career paths in healthcare by connecting students with health care professionals once a month for virtual case study/panel discussion and hands-on activity.

Eastcentral PA AHEC Welcomes New Health Educator

The Eastcentral PA AHEC Office is pleased to welcome Melissa Barrack as a new health educator. Melissa joins the team as a Community Health Worker and Mental Health First Aid instructor. Melissa is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with Masters degrees in Social Work and Public Health. She completed her undergraduate work at Duquesne. Melissa’s expertise as a social worker, providing mental and behavioral health counseling as well as providing education and advocacy of patients and families, makes her an excellent fit for our team. Her knowledge will provide her AHEC students with the skills needed for success in their fields. Melissa can be reached at [email protected] .
