A study in the Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health shows that the chemical sweetener sucralose (Splenda) is harmful to gut health, and may lead to oxidative stress, inflammation, and even cancer. When choosing sugar substitutes, stevia or monk fruit are healthier options. Sucralose is used in many low calorie foods such as yogurt, salad dressings, cereals, protein shakes, baked goods, gum, frozen desserts, and reduced sugar condiments. Make sure to always read food labels. You will be surprised at all the foods that contain this ingredient.
Even better, choose whole foods that don’t have a label.
Food labels are warning labels!
