Fourth District Newsletter

June 2026

Message From The

Supervisor

As we welcome the month of June, I want to thank our community for continuing to show up, support one another, and stay engaged in the many events and initiatives happening throughout Ventura County. Over the past month, I’ve had the privilege of attending meaningful community gatherings, recognizing outstanding local leaders and educators, supporting organizations that serve our residents, and participating in events that honor service, sacrifice, and compassion.

This month’s newsletter highlights everything from ribbon cuttings and community festivals to important housing and behavioral health projects, public safety memorials, and upcoming opportunities to get involved. Whether celebrating local businesses, recognizing incredible volunteers and students, supporting our veterans and first responders, or advocating for housing and mental health resources, these moments reflect the strength and heart of our community.

As always, it is an honor to serve you. I hope you enjoy this month’s updates, and I look forward to continuing to connect with residents throughout the district.

Sincerely,

Supervisor Janice S. Parvin

Thank You

First Responders!

I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your bravery, dedication, and tireless efforts during the Sandy Fire in Simi Valley.

As flames threatened homes, neighborhoods, and open space, you stood on the front lines with courage and determination. Your quick response, long hours, and unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property did not go unnoticed.

We know the sacrifices that come with this work, time away from your families, physical exhaustion, and the risks you face each day to keep others safe. Because of your extraordinary efforts, countless residents felt protected and supported during this difficult time.

Simi Valley is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated firefighters and first responders serving our community. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your continued commitment to keeping Ventura County safe.

Leadership Simi Valley Revitalizes Teen Room at Simi Valley

Boys & Girls Club

It was an honor to attend the ribbon cutting for Leadership Simi Valley’s completed community project, the revitalization of the Teen Room at the Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley.

This incredible transformation creates a welcoming space where local teens can learn, grow, and build meaningful connections. Thank you to Leadership Simi Valley whose hard work and dedication made this project possible for the youth in our community.

Leadership of Simi Valley is a program run by the Simi Valley Chamber of commerce and open to the community.

The Bob Huber

Crisis Stabilization Unit

Naming Ceremony

The Naming Ceremony and Sign Unveiling for the Bob Huber Crisis Stabilization Unit was a meaningful and impactful event for our community. I enjoyed putting this event together after receiving unanimous approval from the Board of Supervisors when I brought forward the idea to name the CSU after former Mayor and Supervisor Bob Huber. We were honored to welcome an incredible turnout of residents, community leaders, public safety officials, behavioral health advocates, and members of the Huber family as we came together to celebrate Bob Huber’s extraordinary legacy of public service.

The ceremony featured remarks from community leaders and partners who reflected on Bob’s lasting impact on Ventura County and his dedication to improving the lives of others. The unveiling of the new sign marked not only a tribute to Bob’s leadership, but also a continued commitment to expanding access to mental health and crisis stabilization services in our region.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this special occasion such a success. Bob is a good friend of mine and I am so happy I was able to accomplish this for him.

May 12th Board of Supervisors Meeting

At the May 12th meeting of the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, the Board discussed the formation of an Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District (EIFD), a tool that allows local governments to fund major public infrastructure and community improvement projects through future growth in property tax revenue. The EIFD could help support investments in transportation, housing, economic development, public facilities, and other long-term infrastructure needs throughout Ventura County without raising taxes.

Peace Officers Memorial Ceremony

One of the most moving events I attend every year is the Peace Officers Memorial event, a solemn and meaningful gathering to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. Losing any of our Peace Officers is a profound loss felt by their families, friends, fellow colleagues, and our community.

Standing alongside members of law enforcement, families, and community members, I was humbled by the stories shared and the names remembered. We owe an enduring debt of gratitude to those who have fallen in the line of duty, and we must continue to support those who carry forward their legacy of service and protection.

Traffic Calming Pop-Up

in Simi Valley

I recently visited the Traffic Calming Pop-Up Demonstration at Cochran & Sycamore hosted by the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) and the City of Simi Valley. This hands-on demonstration gave residents the opportunity to experience temporary roadway safety improvements designed to slow vehicle speeds and create safer crossings for pedestrians, cyclists, and others using the roadway. Using temporary materials such as cones, tape, and signage, the project simulated potential curb and median extensions before any permanent changes are considered. The location was selected due to concerns including collision history, unsafe driving speeds, and high levels of pedestrian and bicycle activity. As a Ventura County Transportation Commissioner, it was encouraging to see innovative, community-focused solutions being tested to help improve safety and mobility throughout our region.

Simi Valley Street Fair

The Simi Valley Street Fair, hosted by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce, was another wonderful celebration of our incredible community. Events like this are such a great reminder of what makes Simi Valley special, local businesses, community organizations, families, and neighbors all coming together in one place.

I always enjoy spending time at the Street Fair, visiting with residents, answering questions, and hearing directly from members of our community about the issues and ideas that matter most to them. It is important to me to stay connected and accessible, and I appreciate everyone who stopped by to say hello.

Boys & Girls Club of Moorpark And Simi Valley Havana Nights Gala

The Boys & Girls Club Gala was an unforgettable evening dedicated to supporting the incredible work this organization does for youth in our community.

As a Board Member for the Boys & Girls Club, sponsoring children, makes the program even more meaningful to me. Investing in our youth is one of the most impactful things we can do, and the Boys & Girls Club continues to change lives every single day through their programs, support, and dedication to our future generations.

Honoring Jetta Rose

I had the honor of presenting Jetta Rose with a certificate recognizing her extraordinary courage and quick thinking that helped save two lives. Jetta is an incredible young leader, serving as class president of Royal High, working as a lifeguard with Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, and balancing three different sports, all while setting her sights on some very prestigious colleges. Her bravery, leadership, and dedication are inspiring. Our community is lucky to have role models like Jetta making a difference every day.

Housing Trust Fund Compassion Campaign

I attended the Compassion Campaign Dinner hosted by the Housing Trust Fund Ventura County, an evening dedicated to supporting housing solutions and strengthening our community. Events like this are so important because they bring together local leaders, organizations, businesses, and residents who all share the common goal of creating more affordable and accessible housing opportunities throughout Ventura County.

Body Brain Train

Punch-A-Thon

It was wonderful participating at the Body Brain Train Punch-a-thon and Drum-a-thon event and seeing firsthand the incredible community Nikki and Gabby have built for individuals living with Parkinson’s and their spouses. Body Brain Train focuses on improving both physical and cognitive wellness through exercise, rhythm, movement, and social connection, helping participants stay active and engaged in a supportive environment. I even had the opportunity to join in on the Drum-a-thon, and let me tell you, it was quite a fun workout!

Moorpark Apricot Festival

I joined the community at the Moorpark Apricot Festival this year. It’s always such a joy to see the community come together to celebrate one of our region’s sweetest traditions. The Second Chance Prom was hosted by the Samaritan Center. The Samaritan Center does incredible work year-round providing outreach, support services, and pathways toward stability for those in need across our community.

Soaring Spirits Hope Takes Flight Gala

The Soaring Spirits Gala, was an inspiring evening dedicated to honoring resilience, healing, and community support for those who have experienced profound loss. The event highlighted the powerful work of the Soaring Spirits International, which provides grief support programs and connection for widowed individuals around the world.

Ride For The Blue

I am proud to be participating for the 4th time in the Ron Helus Ride for the Blue, a meaningful community ride held in honor of fallen Ventura County Sheriff Sergeant Ron Helus, who was a neighbor of mine, and all law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This event brings together riders, families, and supporters to pay tribute to the courage, service, and dedication of peace officers while also remembering those we have lost.

The Ride for the Blue is more than just a ride, it is a moving show of solidarity and gratitude. Proceeds and participation help support law enforcement families with mental health needs and related charitable efforts, ensuring that the legacy of service and sacrifice is never forgotten. It is always powerful to see our community come together in such a visible way to honor our heroes and stand with those who continue to serve, and riding on a Harley is always a fun way to spend the day with friends.

Lewis Road Homekey+ Groundbreaking

I attended the groundbreaking of the Lewis Road Homekey+ Project in the unincorporated area near Camarillo. This important development will bring 88 units of permanent supportive housing to individuals experiencing homelessness and those facing behavioral health challenges.

The project represents a meaningful step forward in addressing housing insecurity in our region. With on-site supportive services, residents will have access to the resources they need to build stability, independence, and long-term success.

Voice of Hope Gala

I enjoyed attending the Voices of Hope Gala hosted by the Ventura County Family Justice Center Foundation at Walnut Grove in Moorpark.

This incredible event raises critical funds for Camp HOPE, a powerful youth empowerment and mentoring program supporting children impacted by trauma related to domestic violence. Thank you to everyone who continues to support healing, hope, and brighter futures for our youth.

Reagan National Economic Forum

I had the opportunity to attend the Reagan National Economic Forum at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where leaders from across government, business, and academia gathered to discuss the future of the American economy. Throughout the day, attendees participated in insightful panels, keynote discussions, and fireside chats focused on topics including economic growth, infrastructure and energy for the AI era, manufacturing, immigration policy, financial technology, and America’s role in an increasingly competitive global economy.

The forum also featured remarks from the Secretary of Treasury, who spoke about America’s leadership and the importance of maintaining a strong and competitive economy in a rapidly changing global landscape. It was a valuable opportunity to hear from national leaders on the challenges and opportunities facing our country, while engaging in meaningful conversations about innovation, workforce development, and long-term economic prosperity.

Ribbon Cuttings

Congratulations to Pozoleria Dona Ana on their grand opening and welcome to the community! It was wonderful to see the support for this new family-owned restaurant bringing authentic flavors to Simi Valley. Small businesses are the heart of our community, and it is always great to support the entrepreneurs and families who continue to invest in Simi Valley.

In Moorpark the newly constructed Patriot Professional Plaza celebrated their grand opening this month. This project included a new medical development and seven free-standing buildings ready for new businesses to open their doors in Moorpark.

Water Works

The County of Ventura is seeking community members to serve on the Waterworks District No. 17 Citizens’ Advisory Committee. This committee plays an important role in reviewing recommendations related to annual budgets, water rate adjustments, capital improvement projects, annexation issues, and new policy items before making recommendations to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.

The Committee also serves as a valuable liaison between the community and the Board, helping ensure local voices are heard and represented in decisions impacting water services in the district.

The committee consists of five members appointed by District 4 and approved by the Board of Supervisors. Applicants must be recipients of district services from Bell Canyon, Rocketdyne Company, or the Sage area. Terms are four years and coincide with the term of the nominating supervisor.
