Rainey in the Community
On January 29th, the Cleveland Monsters featured Dave Grohl, founder of Foo Fighters, as their Cleveland Rocks Night bobblehead. Grohl selected Rainey Institute as a beneficiary of the event, resulting in donations from the Monsters Community Foundation and Dominion Energy to support Rainey's programming. Rainey also received funds from merchandise autographed by Dave Grohl and part of the winnings from a 50/50 raffle. We are so grateful for the Monsters' and Dominion's support! Teachers and students alike had a blast performing at the game and raising awareness about how Rainey engages Cleveland youth in the arts. COMMUNITIES registration still open!
Rainey's Saturday program, COMMUNITIES, is off to a successful start with classes in origami, Dance Sutra, African American Story Quilting, and more. But don't worry, it's not too late for students of all ages to join the program. Click the link below to register for the remainder of the session!
Programming Update: Rainey x Dancing Wheels!
This month, Rainey hosted The Dancing Wheels Company for their February showcase, "Memories of Mexico." Dancing Wheels is a professional, physically-integrated dance company that unites the talents of dancers both with and without disabilities. In the weeks leading up to the performance, dancers from the company worked with Rainey Dance Academy students. They instructed students about physically-integrated dance and collaborated on a piece featuring the cumbia, a traditional Colombian dance. Our collaboration resulted in a fantastic performance on February 9th, in which Rainey Dance Academy students were featured dancing the cumbia!
