Challenged by current events I knew my almost-ready Kickstarter for the Moving Patterns Game would not fly in a time of uncertainty. I also knew that before too long, even with mild weather, kids would likely be stir crazy and ready for some novelty and creative activity.
ABOUT THE MOVING PATTERNS GAME
The Moving Patterns Game is an active, self-directed game about patterns, footwork, friends, and math. Dancing makes life fun, and math makes the dancing more interesting!
This playful and creative body-based game challenges players to collaboratively decode and dance a series of footwork-based “maps” (called
Pattern Cards.
)
Challenge cards
add a variety of mathematical challenges along the way to enhance game play and the development of original new dance patterns.
The Moving Patterns Game is based on a style of dance called “percussive dance” where you make rhythm and patterns with your feet at the same time. Percussive dance includes tap dance, step dance, clogging, and many other foot based styles.

we created for the paused Kickstarter will give you get a sense of what the game looks like i action especially the footwork and the collaborative approach to game play. Please be aware that I inadvertently left off the the metric dimensions for the square dance boxes in the instructions so here they are:
