Pastors in the Gathering Area

& a Special Anniversary!

This morning (2/2) at 10am, Pastors Luke and Meggan will be available for their monthly Pastors in the Gathering Area time. They've set aside this time on the first Thursday of each month to visit with all church friends who stop by.

Also, it's a special anniversary! On the first Sunday in February back in 2013, Rev. Dr. Luke Farwell officially began serving as our Minister here at First United Presbyterian Church. Be sure to wish Pastor Luke a happy tenth anniversary, and let all the Farwells know how glad we are that their family is a part of our church family!

Plans for Sunday

Join us this Sunday (2/5) at 9 am as we listen to God's Word found in Malachi 3:1-4 and Luke 2:22-40 (click to read now) and discover how all things work together "In God's Good Time." Our sermon will focus on Simeon and Anna, faithful servants of the Lord, who waited on God's promise of sending the Messiah. Today, in a world of instant gratification, we find it difficult to wait for the things that can't be granted instantaneously. What in your life are you waiting on God for? How does your faith in God inform your sense of time and your willingness to wait? Join us as we discover how good things - the best of things - come to those who wait. See you Sunday!

>Also this Sunday, we'll be recognizing those involved in Scouting on "Scout Sunday." All Scouts (boys, girls, and adults) are encouraged to wear all or part of their uniform in order to help raise awareness of Scouting as well as highlight all Scouts' duty to God.

Sunday School at 10:30am for All Ages

*Pre-K to 2nd grade (Room 5)

*3rd to 5th grade (Room 6)

*6th - 12th grade Youth (Middle High Room)

*Adult Class (Koinonia Lounge) - "The Grace of Les Miserables" series continues with "The Gift of Love: The Story of Marius and Cosette." We'll examine love as presented in Les Miserables and the Christian conception of love. How do we as Christians show and share the love of Christ with others? Join us as reflect on how the greatest gift we give is love.

After church this Sunday (2/5), you can enjoy our monthly Youth Coffee Shop & Bake Sale in the Gathering Area to raise funds for their activities. All youth are asked to bring a baked goodie and/or to help make and sell drinks.

Also, our CORE & JAM Youth Group will be getting back together Sunday from 6-7:30pm after being off last week for the big ski trip.

Youth Ski Trip was a Blast!

Our annual Youth Ski Trip with First Presbyterian (Green Bay) was a success last week! Twenty-five children, youth, and adults hit the slopes this year. This trip is always held on the last Friday and Saturday of January, so mark your calendars now for January 26 & 27, 2024!

A Great Night for a Good Cause

A big "Thank You!" to all those who helped plan and who participated in our 2nd Annual Burns Night Benefit Dinner: An Evening in the Highlands that took place last Saturday (1/28). More than 100 people gathered at the Green Bay Distillery to raise funds to help Hurricane Ian victims and to enjoy an wonderful evening.

Sharing the Love

Our February Agape Drive-Thru Dinner was held last evening for our church family and neighborhood friends. The cold didn't seem to stop anyone as cars lined up around the parking lot for folks to pick up the delicious free meals we offered. THANKS to our wonderful Agape volunteers for all their help sharing the love on behalf of our church! Mark your calendar for our next Agape Drive-Thru Dinner planned for Wednesday, March 1.

Alice in India

You're invited to attend our next Dead Reformers Society meeting on Tuesday (2/7) at 7pm at Zambaldi Brewery. Our own Alice Wood will describe her experience touring the FreeSchools in Bihar - one of the poorest regions of India. She'll share anecdotes unique to her experiences, discussing her impressions after visiting Hindu, Sikh, and Baha’i temples and spending a week at a Catholic convent. Don't miss her amazing story at next Tuesday's gathering.

> The P.W. Mission Sewing gathering will take place this morning (2/2) at 9am in the Koinonia Lounge.

Addresses Needed

Are you between the ages of 18 and 22 or is your child that age? If so, we'd like to have their current address whether they are away at college, living at home, or on their own. Our Deacons are planning to send them something special. Please email the church office ([email protected]) no later than Sunday (2/12) so your loved one can be included.

Important Meeting Coming Soon

After church on Sunday (2/12) we'll have our Annual Congregational Meeting. The purpose will be to review last year’s work and ministry, approve the Co-Pastors Terms of Call, and present the budget for 2023. Printed copies of the Annual Report will be made available soon in the Narthex.

We'll also need the help of many youth and adults to make this faith-building event a big success.

Tell Us Your Angel Story

Our upper Elementary Sunday School students have been learning about angels, and they'd like you to share your story. Look for the bulletin board in the F.L.C. and take a card from the green envelope. Write down your “Angel Story" and attach it to the board. Thanks for sharing your story!
