Did You Know: There Is A Lake In Massachusetts Called Lake Chauggoggagogmanchauggagogchabunagungamaug
|
Webster Lake is a lake in the town of Webster known by a much longer name having 45 letters comprising fourteen syllables: Lake Chauggoggagoggmanchauggagoggchabunagungamaug. What this word means is said to be a thousand bays, but there is no guarantee the correctness of the etymology. It means to some people a stutter or to some an unmentionable word. The Nipmucks and other tribes gave it a variety of similar names.

Goodbye to Miss Stacey!
Miss Stacy is moving on to other endeavors: reposted from the Holmes Public Library's October newsletter:
"Stacey Beshers has been a delight to have as our Children and Youth Services Librarian for 4 years. For staff members, it's been a treat to listen to her conduct the *perfect* Infant Lapsit (PERFECT!), advise a voracious reader on the next best series, and welcome the smallest and shyest visitors to our public space with a smile and kind word.Everyone felt important under her gaze.
Miss Stacey has been a true professional every step of the way and we wish her all the best in her career.
