February 2020 Edition
The Community Service Newsletter
Can you think of anything better than celebrating National Random Acts of Kindness Month? How about celebrating it with your community! That's just what Waters of Longcreek did this month, hosting many events to promote not only random acts of kindness, but also events that show our residents just how much we care. Shown here, on Valentine's Day, the Waters at Longcreek's Resident Services Coordinator, Tamara Canzater held a partner celebration to show our thankfulness for the kindness of our local partners. The Club 180 Children and Feeding Center and the Richland County Sheriff's Department were celebrated, and a fun time was had by all! Read more about these partnerships in this edition of the Atlantic Housing Foundation's Community Services Newsletter.

Partnership Spotlight
Richland County Sheriff's Department
Atlantic Housing Foundation partners with local police and sheriff's departments in each of our communities to make a difference and help transform the communities in which we live and work. We are excited to partner with the Richland County Sheriff's Department, located in Columbia, SC. Richland County is the second most populated county in South Carolina and we are most appreciative for the officers who give their time to work with our students in our Club 180 Feeding and Development program. We would like to recognize Deputy Sheriff Powers and Deputy Sheriff Fort for their continued engagement in the community. The Richland County Sheriff's Department believes in providing excellence, accountability, passion for service, integrity and developing connections with their communities; values to which AHF also ascribes.
Club 180 Feeding and Development Program
Club 180 Feeding and Development Program runs full time at both Waters at Berryhill and Waters at Longcreek in Columbia, South Carolina. In 2019 Club 180 served over 4,000 meals to students in their program and over 9,000 since 2017. The Club 180 program not only serves a hot meal to every participant but also provides tutoring and a place students can go after school for positive engagement and socialization. We would like to thank Club 180 for the continued partnership and dedication to serving students and the volunteers that make it all possible.

Atlantic Housing Foundation is dedicated to education and partners with local organizations and provides free after school programs at most of our locations. Check out a list of our locations.
Spotlight on February Fun
Kindness and Caring at Silver Leaf Villas
The students in the after school program at Silver Leaf Villas coordinated by Angela Holley really know how to get crafty.

These residents put together a cup of kindness for Valentine's Day for their families to show the love. They enjoyed this creative event and the recipients were delighted to receive the gift.

At most of our communities we have at least two craft opportunities a month. Check out the Silver Leaf Villas Apartments page on Facebook for more information by clicking here: Silver Leaf Villas Facebook page and events.
2020 Valentine King and Queen
Residents at Palm House Senior Apartments had a love-ly time at the Annual Valentine Party where the crowning of the 2020 Valentine King and Queen took place.

Palm House always has a full calendar and lots of fun planned due to the hard work and efforts of Activities Director Gina Battles.

Atlantic Housing Foundation plans at least two social events a month for our residents to encourage community involvement.
Drug-Free Poster Campaign
In February residents began working hard on their submissions to the Southeastern Affordable Housing Management Association's 2020 My Voice Will Be Heard - Speaking the Language of Love Drug-Free poster contest. At Arrowood Apartments Resident Services Coordinator Patricia Gulley invited resident artist, Craig the Artist, to help students plan.
