Holiday Edition 2019
The New Community Service Newsletter
Atlantic Housing Foundation wants to wish everyone a very happy holiday season! From East to West and North Pole to South, we send our very best to you and yours this season. In December, our focus was on giving back to our residents and communities through local campaigns such as Operation Blue Santa, Safe Haven Shelter, and the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program, among others. Resident Service Coordinators were as busy as elves finding out the needs for their community and helping to meet those needs. The Quail Ridge Resident Services Coordinator, Carmen Soto, held both an Evening with Santa and an Angel Tree Potluck to give back to residents and the community, shown above. We hope you enjoy this edition of the Community Services Newsletter that shows all of the joy and the cheer the Resident Service Coordinators spread from far to near!

Holiday Celebrations
Atlantic Housing Foundation gave back to thousands of residents and community members this holiday season. At three communities: Shemwood Crossing Apartments, Boulder Creek Apartments, and Spring Grove Apartments, all located in South Carolina, over 800 Thanksgiving meals were given to our residents, provided by Greenville's Standing Against Violence Everyday Project 5000 feeding program. In total, Atlantic Housing Foundation served over 2,500 in total.

In December, AHF is committed to serving families with holiday meals, angel tree programs, and various activities designed to give back to communities. We will be partnering once again with Tabatha “Mata” Crawford, Director of SPIN and other community and resident volunteers at Shemwood Crossing Apartments for a large food distribution initiative.

Look for opportunities to give and receive next year at all of Atlantic Housing Foundation, Inc. communities by visiting http://www.atlantichousing.org/community_services/resident-services and finding a way to get involved in a community nearby. Each property above also has a Facebook page for more information.

We want to thank all of our community partners who helped with our November programs as well as everyone who participated in transforming communities in December!
Tabatha "Mata" Crawford, Director of SPIN; Bruce Wilson, Director of Fighting in Justice Together; James Dixon, Community Volunteer; and Shakir Robinson, Director of Center for Educational Equity were among the community volunteers and residents who helped with the Thanksgiving food distribution.

Spreading Joy and Cheer
Everyone at each of our properties work hard to make sure that our residents are receiving excellence in service, and this includes holiday events that spread joy and cheer to our residents and communities.

Resident Service Coordinators work hard to find out what needs exist in the community and determine what programs to coordinate to meet these needs.

Bilingual Education
Atlantic Housing Foundation has really impacted me this semester. For the past years I have been working two jobs in order to be able to pay for both school and housing. I knew that wouldn't be possible this semester, because I had to take courses and do full-time student teaching. I am happy to announce that I will be graduating this Fall 2019 with a bachelors degree in bilingual education. This could not have been possible without the support of AHF.

The Atlantic Housing Foundation scholarship really changed my life in a dramatic way. When I received the acceptance call for the housing scholarship, I was brought to tears knowing someone would help me while I was going through hard times.

Human Development
While I was a scholarship recipient of the Atlantic Housing Foundation, I found a passion in volunteering or being involved with the community. It's nice to talk to people and know that they are grateful for in-kind services.
