Resident Spotlight
Safety Lessons Save the Day!
Recently at Heather Ridge Apartments, Resident Services Coordinator, Amy Dodds, partnered with the Irving Fire Department to provide residents with fire safety classes. One of the third grade residents attended this presentation. She was able to put the knowledge learned to good use when she discovered and reported smoke coming from the apartments where she lives. Her quick response allowed Irving Fire Department to extinguish the fire, holding the threat to life safety and damages to a minimum.
As a result of her actions to mitigate the danger to life and property at the apartment complex, she was awarded a "Certificate of Appreciation" by the Irving Fire Department's Department of Fire Education and Prevention at her school. She reiterated to her classmates the importance of the Fire Prevention classes given both at her apartment and at school. Thank you to Amy Dodds, Resident Services Coordinator, for providing these excellent courses for her residents in safety; to the Irving Fire Department for their quick response and excellence in service; and to the young lady pictured for using her knowledge to help her community and property.
One Cup at a Time
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer.

When Alex, who was diagnosed with childhood cancer just before her first birthday, was four, she told her parents she wanted to set up a front-yard lemonade stand. Her plan: to give the money to doctors to help them find a cure. Her first “Alex’s Lemonade Stand”, held with the help of her older brother Patrick, raised an astonishing $2,000 in one day. While bravely fighting her own cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year. As news spread of the remarkable girl so dedicated to helping other sick children, people everywhere were inspired to start their own lemonade stands—donating the proceeds to her cause.

With the combined efforts of all the Atlantic Housing Foundation residents, we are proud to say that we were able to raise over $3,000 for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

Programs that Make a Difference
Community Programs
Summer Nutrition programs like the one provided by Waters at Willow Run are important for many reasons. Did you know 22 million children depend on schools for free or reduced-price meals? Without these meals students would miss this important ingredient in their life: a steady source of food and nutrition. Atlantic Housing Foundation makes it a priority to fill the gap created in the summer by partnering with organizations like the Central Texas Food Bank, the J.E.W.E.L. Foundation, Club180, CitySquare and more.
Some of our summer food program partners, like CitySquare, even provide students with science, technology, engineering and math lessons for free as a part of their program.
A special thank you to all of the Resident Services Coordinators and partners who provide a hot meal throughout the summer to our smallest residents!
Celebrating in June
Providing opportunities to celebrate special people in our lives is an important part of building community and shared experiences. In June, many properties had special events to create something for the
special people in their lives. Residents celebrating together is an important part of shared experiences.
Scholarship Spotlight
For the next two months, Atlantic Housing Foundation will spotlight scholarship recipients on Facebook and Instagram. Their accomplishments will be highlighted, what they want to do and how they want to give back will be the focus of our "Scholarship Spotlight". The recipients have worked hard, and it is an honor to be able to spotlight their success. Make sure to keep an eye on our Facebook page and Instagram to see more about these recipients’ accomplishments.
This annual announcement is the culmination of the work of every person in our organization. It is how we prove we are different, how we build communities, and how we change lives. My congratulations to all the recipients and to all the Atlantic employees whose work makes it possible. - Dan French, Chairman of the Board for Atlantic Housing Foundation.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the Spring 2020 Scholarship Applications which will be launching on July 30, 2019.

Back to School
Atlantic Housing Foundation's mission to make a difference in our residents' lives and transform communities through education and development. We will be celebrating back to school at our properties this year during our Back-to-School bash held at most of our properties in July and August. During the back to school bash residents will get a chance to meet local school district officials, receive a back pack and school supplies, and have some fun in the sun while celebrating the beginning of a new school year.
Check with your local Resident Services Coordinator to find out more about the back to school bash at your property.Make a donation if you would like to support this great event!
Partnerships that Make a Difference
GoDo Discovery, Co. Fight to End Hunger Event
Atlantic Housing Foundation believes in supporting other local non-profits and charities. Many of our employees recently attended an event at GoDo Discovery, Co. to support CitySquare, an organization that delivers hot meals to students during the summer months.
Three corporate interns participated in this event, shown left, as well as regional managers and corporate employees. The proceeds from the fundraiser will help supply children around the DFW metroplex with meals. What a great event for a great cause!

Atlantic Housing Foundation Family

The "F" in Foundation stands for "Family".    Describe Atlantic Housing Foundation culture in one, two, or three words. This challenge was recently issued by the Human Resources Department of AHF to the employees as a survey to find out more about the employee perception of the AHF culture. The results are clear, as seen in the word cloud to the left, AHF is a caring, friendly, fun and supportive place to work where the employees report it feels more like a family. Note: The word cloud to the left is a compilation of all of the survey responses, with the most used words highlighted in the larger font.
