April 2019 Edition
The New Community Service Newsletter
March found the Atlantic Housing Foundation springing forward for safety with many great events for our residents! Andrea Vega, and daughter, Lauryn Vega, make a dynamic safety duo at the Waters at Sunrise in Round Rock. They hosted a fire safety event and had Sgt. Briggs of the Texas Attorney General's Office visit to speak with children and parents about staying safe while using the internet and social media. Thanks for your hard work for our residents, Andrea and Lauryn!

Special Events
Orangeburg County Sheriff's Community Event
The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department hosted a community event at Roosevelt Gardens Apartments in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The day was filled with fun for all ages, and Sheriff Ravenell pointed out that the day was for the children in an effort to create a better and brighter future.
Creating Community
In addition to free health screenings, organizations such as Orangeburg County DDS, Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College, Save the Children, and the National Guard, in addition to other groups, turned out to support the community effort.
MGruff the Crime Dog posed with the children and fun was had by everyone! Sheriff Ravenell spoke to and mentored the children while the Sheriff's Department served up food and showed their love for the community.
The children learned how to play soccer and hoola-hooped the day away. Thank you to Sheriff Leroy Ravenell and the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Department. Stay tuned for Summer Camp plans hosted by the OCSD!
Scholarship Workshop Events

Programs that Make a Difference
CLUB180 - WATERS AT BERRYHILL

Programs like the Club180 After School Program at Waters at Berryhill in Columbia, South Carolina, make a difference in our residents' lives. The program, which is in operation Monday through Friday and serves more than 100 participants per week, not only gives students a safe place after school, but also provides homework help by qualified tutors and a hot meal every day. This program is so successful that the sister property in Columbia, Waters at Longcreek, will be starting the program in the Fall of 2019. Thank you for this partnership Erin Helman, Community Manager, and Club180!
AHF Gives Back

Did we mention that Atlantic Housing Foundation Team gives back? Each quarter every employee is encouraged to take Volunteer Time Off to give back to the community. Employees team up to find non-profits to give their time and energy to help make a difference. This month these AHF headquarter employees gave back to Meals On Wheels in Texas (pictured above) and the Westfield Apartments Team gave the gift of literacy to the local Boys and Girls Club.
Springing Forward for Safety
March found our Resident Coordinators providing a variety of safety lessons for our residents. Pictured below from left to right, a Brittany Bay RC teaches some Weird Science hand washing lessons, Village Lakes RC provides information for safely riding a bike, and Heather Ridge and Covington Creek team up for some fire safety lessons.

March Campaign: March for Babies
Few life events are more joyful than the birth of a child. Yet, no one anticipates a baby born prematurely or very sick and needing to spend time in a newborn intensive care unit. Sadly, for hundreds of thousands of moms in our country, that is the frightening reality.

That’s why we are raising money for March for Babies® to help the March of Dimes fund lifesaving research and programs that help more moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. Please join this team  https://www.marchforbabies.org/team/AtlanticHousingFoundation  to help us reach our goal of $5,000.

Getting started is easy. Just click on the button below and “join this team” now. Our event takes place on 5/4/2019 at The Lawn at Reunion Tower, and it will be even better with you there with us!
