May 2019 Edition
The New Community Service Newsletter
April was full of egg-stra special activities at Atlantic Housing Foundation. Everyone hopped in to promote literacy, math and egg-cellence in teamwork while having fun and enjoying spending time together as a community. Shown above, the children at Villas at Sonterra not only got a surprise left by the bunny, but also, in celebration of literacy, each child received a free book from our Resident Coordinator program presented by our Resident Coordinator, Mariah Lopez. Thank you to Mariah for putting a bit of "Spring" into everybunny's step this month at the Villas at Sonterra!

A sweet treat and some healthy advice adds up!
The Easter Bunny wasn't the only one busy at the Waters at Sunrise. The Tooth Fairy showed up, along with My Kid's Dentist and Orthodontist, to give out some dental packets, which surely came in handy after eating all that candy! The parents at Waters at Sunrise are glad Andrea and Lauryn Vega, Resident Coordinators, work hard to find great partnerships for our resident services. (Middle photo).
At Quail Ridge they celebrated teamwork by having a team egg hunt. Sebunny and her five teams collected eggs and added them up with some fast math. Thanks to Resident Coordinators Nilsa Gutierez and Carmen Soto for their teamwork on this event!

Hunting for eggs just got a little more hare-y for the Waters at Elm Creek residents. They participated in an educational scavenger hunt to make the hunt a bit more fun and a lot more challenging.
Egg Hunt for Literacy : Promoting education through celebrations
This year our Resident Coordinators encouraged learning and fun by giving residents the gift of literacy combined with the traditional hunt for eggs. Heather Ridge snuck some learning into the Easter Basket this year and Resident Coordinator Amy Dodds made sure the residents' baskets were egg-stra special! (Middle photo)

Community Gardens
Community Gardens provide our residents with a welcome change of pace to spend some time outdoors working together as a team to both beautify and improve quality of life. Turning areas into vibrant green space around our communities is hard work, but these residents find both enjoyment and healthier lifestyles by participating in learning more about how to create a productive garden space. We look forward to seeing the fruits of their labor in upcoming months! Whether it is a large or small garden it gives people a chance to meet and learn about their neighbors and gardening techniques. Please enjoy these photos from our Community Gardens!

"For me, AHF's motto meant doing what I could to help or improve the lives of our residents - beyond providing low-income housing and often helping residents with their other needs. Having spent the last couple of years serving and representing a majority of indigent clients, I am constantly reminded of the importance of 'Making a Difference' and what I can do to continue to live by AHF's motto. I am incredibly thankful for AHF and the people that first provided me the opportunity to put this motto into practice in my professional career." - Pierina Otiniano Martynenko, J.D.
