Commissioner Hardemon sponsored legislation on February 2, 2021, to extend the amount of time municipalities have to expend funds provided through the 2020 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The new deadline is September 30, 2021. This helps cities continue to serve individuals and businesses struggling to cope with the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic.

"This expansion is more than just bringing bodies, more than just bringing baggage," said Commissioner Hardemon. "It's bringing ideas. Ideas that will come from Tel Aviv and land here in Miami-Dade County, more resources, more jobs and additional infrastructure."
