Meet Kelley
Kelley fought to get resources for her daughters who suffer from emotional trauma.
Kelley and her husband John are local Lansing residents and clients in Highfields' Wraparound Program. Wraparound is a process which builds a support system for a family in need.
Last year, Kelley and John adopted two sisters, ages 7 and 8, who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Before they were adopted, they had moved between different foster homes, and lived in motels and homeless shelters. They suffered from abuse and as a result have emotional stress.
Kelley and John were referred to Highfields to find resources and support for their oldest daughter, whose emotional issues are more severe.
"Wraparound has helped our family very much. They are our greatest resource." - Kelley

Meet Jessica
Jessica is determined to make better decisions in her life to keep her family together.
When Jessica lost the rights to her daughters last year, she was referred to Highfields' Families Together Building Solutions program, which helps families create solutions to prevent out-of-home placement for the children.
She felt hopeless and was worried about losing her children for good.
Jessica worked with her counselor Riheti Ngubeni to learn how to overcome her issues. They worked on relationship goals, personal self-esteem, and parenting skills to help put her family back together.
"I want to get through this. It's important for me to get my girls back." - Jessica
