Find event information and resources.

Zero is the Goal

Vision Zero is an initiative to create a safer environment for everyone getting around in Norfolk, whether by foot, bike, scooter or vehicle. And Bike Month is a great time to make sure we're all sharing the road!

Motorists are reminded to:

1. Share the road with cyclists. Bikes are allowed on city streets whether in a bike lane or not.

2. Keep a distance of at least three feet when passing a cyclist on the street. It's the law!

3. Watch out for cyclists when opening your car door when parked on the street.

4. Pay attention! Put away cell phones and other distractions.

Bicyclists are reminded to:

1. Follow the same rules of the road as a vehicle. Stop at stop signs and traffic signals, and yield to pedestrians. Bike with the flow of traffic.

2. Wear a helmet!

3. Be seen! Wear bright clothing in the dark and use a white headlight and red taillight at night.

4. Use bike lanes and buffered bike lanes whenever possible.

Vehicle Parking Survey

Our Neighborhood Quality Division is proposing code changes to RV and commercial vehicle parking and wants to get YOUR feedback!

Take this quick survey - you don't have to provide your name or contact information to participate.

Spring Adoption Special

Norfolk Animal Care Center is out of kennel space for dogs and urgently needs your help making space for incoming animals.

If you’re interested in adoption, it’s a great time to do it! From now until May 7, they’re waiving all dog adoption fees. That includes shots, spay/neuter and microchipping. Find out more.

Find out whether you or a loved one qualifies for this program at www.norfolk.gov/seniortaxrelief or by calling (757) 823-1130.
