Area Improvements
Call for artists: Deadline April 9

The North Houston District’s mission is to make the area more appealing by cleaning our parks and maintaining common areas.
Now that spring is here, it’s an ideal time for us to grab some paint and create our first mural!

We are looking for experienced artists to lead this special project. The North Houston District mural will be one of the first augmented reality murals in town!

More details here.
Partnerships
Apartment Outreach Program
Taking the Classroom to the Community
Lone Star College-Houston North and
the North Houston District are working together to assist the thousands of apartment residents in the area interested in a higher education.

In recent months, apartment managers and residents have been surveyed to determine needs and interests, and information sessions have been held virtually. In the months ahead, classes may be held at various apartment communities to facilitate participation by residents.
The overall goals of the partnership are:
  • generate an interest in participants to obtain a degree at LSC-Houston North
  • offer workforce trainings
  • increase employment opportunities

Public Safety
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Every April in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month, we remember and celebrate the life of Dylan Newman.

In 2014, next to the North Houston Skate Park, the N. Houston Development Corp. built
Dylan Park in his honor and for children with special needs.

The park is ADA-friendly and features wheelchair accessible playground equipment, a butterfly garden and open fields.
