Giggle Break!

The Boss

One day a man goes to a pet shop to buy a parrot. The assistant takes the man to the parrot section and asks him to choose one.

The man asks, "How much is the yellow one?"

The assistant replies that it costs $2,000. The man is shocked and asks the assistant why it's so expensive. "This parrot is a very special one. He can type really fast."

"What about the green one?" the man asks. "He costs $5,000 because he can type, answer incoming phone calls and takes notes."

"What about the red one?" the man asks. The assistant says, "That one's $10,000."

Curious, the man asks, "What does he do?" The assistant says, "I don't know, but the other two call him boss."

Ribbon Cutting - ProBall Cages & Activity Center

Members of the Park Hills Leadington Chamber were on hand to welcome  ProBall Cages & Activity Center to the community with a Ribbon Cutting on Friday, October 7, 2016.

Area ballplayers are invited to take your game to the next level while working inside the 6000+ square foot indoor climate controlled facility at ProBall Cages & Activity Center!

Their facility is completely turfed with high-quality turf and padding and has three 12 x 70-foot cages and one 14 x 70-foot cage. The netting is not stationary and can be retracted allowing for one large area that can be used for infield work or even for a fun game of whiffle ball or dodge ball. Lighting is so important when working in an indoor facility and they have provided all LED lighting for optimal vision.

Their facility has single wheeled and a double wheel baseball-pitching machine as well as softball pitching machines. Their cages are fully equipped with everything a player will need to work on his or her game.

With safety as a top priority, they have L-screens built to withstand 100 + mph baseballs or softballs, state of the art baseball pitching mounds and an area for softball pitching as well. Each cage has regular baseballs and softballs along with balls designed for use in pitching machines.

ProBall Cages & Activity Center is committed to keeping their facility in top condition. There is regular cleaning, care, and maintenance done on all equipment and furnishings. Safety and cleanliness are of highest priority.

7 Tricks to Master Public Speaking, According to the Guy Who Runs TED Talks

By: Elle Kaplan, CEO Lexion Capitol Management

With a little practice and these tips, you could become the next TED Talk star.

Public speaking has been cited as the number one fear of Americans, but whether you're pitching to a VC firm or just talking to a small group of people in the office, it's a pretty big key to success. The point is, we all have to do it--so we might as well try to get good at it. The good news, according to Chris Anderson, the curator at TED Talks (who has been helping people become master presenters for 30 years), is that giving a good talk is coachable. Phew.

Here are a few things to keep in mind, according to the TED Talks expert:

1. Don't get too technical.

As Chris Anderson puts it, "You start where they are." One of the most successful talks he has curated involved a complex new biotechnology called Crispr. It would've gone over almost everyone's head, but instead the speaker likened the tech to a word processor for DNA.

Do You Listen to Music While Working? Here's What It Does to Your Brain (and It's Pretty Awesome)

By: Tom Popomaronis, Columnist, Inc.com

Music has enriched people's personal lives pretty much since the beginning of time, but scientists today have uncovered how best to make music enrich your professional life, too.

When the office is almost too much to stomach, music can deliver much-needed relief on the job. Before you press Play, however, have a handle on when your tunes will be most beneficial for you and your brain.

Learning = Stop

Learning requires your brain to analyze and remember instructions and facts. When music is on, however, your brain has to process auditory data on top of processing the instructions and facts. Because of this multitasking, the brain can interpret the instructions and facts improperly, either associating them in odd ways or making mistakes about what's important enough to store. Thus, if you have to learn something at work, it's best to turn off your music, especially if you're learning verbally or through reading and the music has lyrics.
