Your toilet is not a garbage can!
World Toilet Day (November 19) is an annual United Nations Observance promoted through a worldwide public campaign that encourages action to tackle the global sanitation crisis.
The Windsor-Essex Vital Signs® Program is a community report that combines national, provincial, and local data with residents’ views on important local issues. This report is a catalyst to engage our community in an ongoing dialogue about who we are, what we do, why we do it, and where it can lead. This is the seventh year the WECF has been part of the national Vital Signs® program.
Some highlights
- 94% of survey residents said that Lake Erie's health is extremely important/moderately important.
- Improving air quality, resiliency to climate change and the amount of connected green spaces were identified as top environmental priorities from respondents.
There are many great partners who have executed environmental programs and projects across the region thanks to generous investments from the WindsorEssex Community Foundation.

Attention Rural Landowners: Now is a Great Time to Setup Spring Tree Planting, Restoration and/or Agricultural Stewardship Projects
Agricultural Stewardship
Essex Region Conservation has a long history of working with farmers to exchange information that will ultimately help to protect and improve soil health while protecting water quality. Soil protection structures, windbreaks and buffer strips are just some of the ways farmers protect water quality. Essex Region Conservation has grants available to assist in implementing these projects.
| |
Landowner Grants
In an effort to ‘share in the responsibility’ of a clean and healthy environment, ERCA has a comprehensive Clean Water – Green Spaces program aimed at improving regional water quality and enhancing natural areas and biodiversity. Grants of up to 90% of project costs are available to qualifying landowners to implement projects which will help improve local water quality, reduce soil erosion, and increase natural areas cover.
