GlobalHack VII Focuses on Immigration
Reshaping the experiences of foreign-born individuals & communities
More than 80 teams from around the US met in St. Louis to "Hack for Good." Wayne Crosslin/International Institute.
GlobalHack VII was held October 12-14, 2018 at Chaifetz Arena on the Saint Louis University campus. This year's hackathon challenged participating teams at youth, college and pro levels to work collaboratively with industry experts to build tools, apps and platforms to improve experiences for foreign-born individuals in St. Louis and beyond. The event was held in partnership with Casa de Salud, The International Institute of St. Louis, The St. Louis Mosaic Project, and the Immigrant Service Providers Network (ISPN) among others.

"Decoding the Potential" Convening Draws Widely
Strengthening career paths for skilled immigrants

On October 18 and 19, nearly 100 representatives of St. Louis regional business, workforce and education joined together to learn more about the opportunities that skilled immigrants present. Plenary speakers at the International Institute half-day convening, included national authorities from the National Skills Coalition, Washington, DC; Community College Consortium for Immigrant Education, New York; and World Education Service Global Talent Bridge, New York. Collaborators included the International Institute of St. Louis, Workforce Solutions Group of St. Louis Community College and the St. Louis Mosaic Project. A special thanks to David Kemper for hosting an Executive Summary Session at Commerce Bank to engage corporate, government and workforce leaders.
