McKee Foods Kicks off United Way Giving Campaign by Hosting Chattanooga Room in the Inn

McKee Foods Careers kicked off the United Way of Greater Chattanooga campaign by having us as their first nonprofit guest! We had a fantastic time visiting the facility, meeting a lot of folks, and helping pack over 200 snack bags for Hamilton County Schools! Partnerships between corporations and nonprofits are crucial for advancing the nonprofit's mission. These collaborations provide essential resources, funding, and expertise that can significantly enhance the nonprofit's impact. By leveraging corporate support, nonprofits can reach a wider audience and implement more effective programs. Ultimately, these partnerships create a win-win situation, fostering social responsibility while driving meaningful change in the community. Thank you, McKee Foods and United Way of Greater Chattanooga!

GET READY FOR GIVINGTUESDAY!

Giving Tuesday is an annual day of giving held on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, Giving Tuesday will be held on December 3, 2024.

Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental human value anyone can act on so we ask you to support our mission this GivingTuesday.

GivingTuesday is a movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity around the world and reimagines a world built upon shared humanity and generosity.

Families in Transition has partnered with Traveling Tutors and they will be visiting our middle and high schoolers every Tuesday for in-house tutoring sessions, whether it be math, reading, or anything else a resident child may need help with. They will also provide 30 minutes of homework help. One of the great things is that Traveling Tutors will continue in-home tutoring once a resident graduates our program and has permanent housing!

EDGE Business Magazine Features Chattanooga Room in the Inn

We were featured in the October edition of EDGE Business Magazine from the Chattanooga Times Free Press! Features like this bring awareness to our mission and create exposure of the need for housing and programs for the unhoused in the Chattanooga area. We're grateful EDGE announced our upcoming thrift store that will bring much-needed funding to CRITI and highlighted our important programs that empower women and children to rebuild their lives so they can have a safe place to call home and the resources to maintain it. We kicked off a group reading initiative to encourage our kids to read at the beginning of October, complete with exciting group rewards. Here’s how it works:

- Once our kids collectively read 1,000 pages, we’ll celebrate with a pajama party and movie night!

- After reaching 3,000 pages, we’ll host an ice cream party.

- Finally, when we hit 5,000 pages, the kids will enjoy a glow-in-the-dark dance party!

And the kiddos are over a quarter of the way to their first goal! Let's give them some encouragement!

Something magical happened in October!

Joan and Deana Carter purchased and brought brand new winter coats for all the children in our program and included a few extra for future children residents. What an incredible gift!

October 13-19 was Case Management Week, and we celebrated our Social Workers, Mallory, Kaitlyn, and Jessica who go above and beyond for our community and the residents at Chattanooga Room in the Inn.

The theme of Case Management Week this year was "Encouraging, Engaging, and Empowering" and these three ladies live into those values every day with the compassion and persistence they show through their dedication to making CRITI a warm, welcoming environment for those who need it in their most vulnerable time of life. Thank you, Mallory, Kaitlyn, and Jessica for everything you do!

The Whitney Harvey Team Hosts 2nd Annual Grace, Grit + Glitter

On October 20th, Chattanooga Room in the Inn was honored to be the recipient of The Whitney Harvey Team's hard work putting on the 2nd annual Grace, Grit + Glitter where they raised over $700 for our mission!

Chattanooga Gas donated to our residents after crafting some super cute blankets during their Customer Service C.A.R.E. to Serve week. Thank you, Chattanooga Gas, for your support!

Chilly Bone's came to our place so residents could have a shaved ice after a donor graciously donated to have them come out. What a lovely treat!

The Philanthropic Education Organization (P.E.O.) Sisterhood is a U.S.-based international women's group with around 197,000 members, dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for women globally. We were honored to be invited to a recent meeting with Chapter Q to share the work we're doing at Chattanooga Room in the Inn. The members generously held a donation drive for our most-needed items, such as paper towels, tissues, diapers, and cleaning supplies, all of which will significantly support the basic needs of our clients. We are also deeply grateful to the members who contributed financially to our mission, allowing us to direct the funds where they are most needed. It was a wonderful gathering filled with meaningful conversations!

A group from Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church came out to paint nails for some of the residents in October. What a treat!

Scenic City Orthodontics delivered! They donated $2 for every patient who chose pink and purple for the band colors on their braces and donated an additional $2 for every patient who posted about it! They raised $300 AND hosted a supply drive. Thank you, Scenic City Orthodontics for your support!

Sigma Kappa at UTC assembled Halloween buckets for our residents and hosted a month-long drive to collect our most-needed items and donations! It's so heartwarming when groups from the community come together for a purpose like this. We're so grateful! Thank you Sigma Kappa for your support!
