Finishing Strong and Celebrating Our Wins

As the year winds down and the holiday season approaches, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on the creativity, dedication, and hard work that have shaped our local business community. It’s the perfect moment to celebrate your achievements and honor all that it takes to keep a business thriving.

Here at the SLCC, we’ve also made progress on our shared goals—supporting businesses through programs that educate, connect, and advocate for a stronger local economy. This year, we’ve celebrated several exciting ribbon cuttings and grand openings, welcoming new businesses and seeing entrepreneurs bring fresh energy to San Leandro. These milestones remind us of the resilience, determination, and commitment business owners demonstrate every day to make our city a vibrant place to live, work, and shop.

Every success story, every collaboration, and every milestone reached adds to the collective strength of our community. We encourage you to take a moment to appreciate your accomplishments, thank your team, and recognize your customers who have supported your business throughout the year. Each effort, big or small, contributes to the resilience and vibrancy of our community.

Thank you for being part of our business community. We are grateful for the successes, dedication, collaboration, and perseverance that make San Leandro thrive.

Lighting Up the Season: A Celebration for All

Holiday decorations and events like It’s a Wonderful Night do more than sparkle—they bring our community together. Festive lights, tree lightings, and seasonal displays create a warm, inviting atmosphere that draws residents and visitors downtown, supporting local businesses and encouraging shopping, dining, and exploration.

At the same time, these celebrations strengthen our community identity, celebrate traditions and shared experiences that make our town unique. Businesses and residents alike play a part in creating a lively, connected, and proud community. Together, we make the season brighter—for everyone.

Our Community Needs You: Support Local Nonprofits Today

Right now, local nonprofits are facing unprecedented challenges. Rising costs, increased demand for services, and dwindling resources mean that many organizations are stretched thin—but their mission to support our neighbors, youth, families, and seniors hasn’t wavered.

These nonprofits are the backbone of our community, offering critical programs that often go unseen until we—or someone we care about—need them most. From feeding families and mentoring youth ages 15 to 19, to providing arts and cultural programs that enrich our city, their work touches every corner of San Leandro.

You can help sustain this vital work in meaningful ways:

  • Donate: Your contributions directly fund programs that keep our community resilient.
  • Volunteer: Offer your time, skills, and passion to make a tangible difference.
  • Advocate & Share: Amplify their impact by spreading the word and connecting others to their mission.

Every action matters. Even small gestures—like sharing a nonprofit’s story—can create ripple effects that last far beyond today.

Explore our Community and Social Services Directory to find organizations doing incredible work in San Leandro. Whether you give time, resources, or support in other ways, your engagement ensures these vital programs continue—and our community thrives.

Support for Change with Davis Street Community Center

The holiday season is almost here, and it’s the time to make a real difference for those who desperately need our help. For many members of our community, this time of year brings hardship instead of celebration. Your support can change that.

Every gift and donation to our Holiday Basket Program is crucial in providing families with essential meals and toys for children who might otherwise have an empty table and empty hands.

Last year, thanks to generous donors like you, we brought warm meals to 1,132 families and senior households and toys to over 3,000 children in our community. This year, the urgency is even greater.

Your donation is essential in filling baskets with hope and holiday cheer.

Together, we can ensure no family is left forgotten this season. Make your donation today to bring comfort and joy to those who need it most this season.

Celebrating Connection: A Successful Multicultural Business Mixer!

What an incredible night of celebration, community, and connection! Our Multicultural Business Mixer brought together over 100 attendees and 14 vendor booths representing all five Chambers of Commerce from across the East Bay.

The beautiful front courtyard of Casa Peralta was alive with music, great food, and meaningful networking as business owners and community members came together to share stories, make new connections, and celebrate the diversity that makes our region so vibrant.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing food vendors who donated their delicious offerings and helped make the evening such a success:

  • Nella’s Southern Cuisine – for their soulful Southern favorites
  • Fieldwork Brewing Co. – for serving up their always-yummy pizza
  • Tsuru Sushi – for their fresh and flavorful bites
  • CTK Empanadas – for their tasty handheld treats
  • Taqueria Los Altos – for keeping our guests full and happy

Events like this remind us how powerful it is when communities come together to celebrate culture, collaboration, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives the East Bay forward.
