CURRENT ENDEAVORS
: Patrick was recently hired as an Instructional Assistant for Business at Chabot College, making him a 360 Alumni. Prior to this, Patrick studied Business and Communications at Chabot, then transferred to Menlo College. Patrick reflects, "I worked full-time since [transferring] in property management and volunteered as a Debate Coach for San Francisco Middle School."
Patrick also interned for Chabot College's President Sperling. He admits, "it was nerve-racking at first, but I was glad for the opportunity to see Chabot from another side. On Flex Day, I got to meet with faculty as an intern and build new relationships as a staff member. I was also part of a Faculty hiring committee. As a student, I was able to see what people look for in an interview. During the process, I felt I had an equal say, and it was a very practical example of the saying 'everybody's voices matter.' I not only felt heard, but I was encouraged to share."
MEMORABLE CHABOT MOMENT
: "Debate Team allowed me to meet people of different cultures from different areas, whether they were from the Bay, SoCal, or out-of-state. During the end-of-season awards, I was completely surprised to be voted Best Peer Coach and Best Competitor in our region; this was only the second time in fifty years our region won this award. For me, it was more about being involved with the community."
ADVICE FOR FUTURE ALUMNI
: "Try all the different clubs, activities, and courses, especially when you have the opportunity to try a course that meets the general requirements. That's how I was able to take Kinesiology for Law Enforcement and Forensics for Anthropology. I started the Social Anime Club and was part of Econ, Justice, and Latinos with Purpose Clubs. It sounds like a lot, but why not try? Try different opportunities when you have a way to experience all these cultures right at Chabot."

The Friends of Chabot College foundation held their sixth annual Gala on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the TPC Stonebrae Country Club in the Hayward Hills. It was a packed house with over 150 district, college, business and community leaders in attendance. We highlighted several Chabot programs exemplifying the high caliber of students at Chabot, including two classical guitar performances, alumni and student testimonials from our RISE Program for formerly incarcerated students, and a 360 Alum from Machine Tool Technology now working as a Lab Technician at Chabot.
In addition, we honored leaders - Dr. Robert Carlson and Mr. Andreas Cluver - who have made lasting contributions to Chabot College.
We’re still finalizing the totals from this year’s event, but early estimates of net income show we raised approximately
$50,000
in support of Chabot students and programs!
Thank you to all of those who supported the event. We look forward to next year, and photos are available through the link below.
