Daylight Saving Time Ends Nov. 3rd
Turn Clocks BACK One Hour on 11/3/2019!
Sunday, November 3, 2019, 2:00 am, clocks are turned backward 1 hour. Hurrah for  more light in the morning!

United States first observed Daylight Saving Time in  1918 . There were  no uniform rules  from 1945 to 1966, causing widespread confusion, especially in transport and broadcasting. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 aligned the switch dates for the first time. Following the 1973 oil embargo, Congress extended the DST period to  10 months in 1974  and  8 months in 1975 , in an effort to save energy. The United States has observed DST for 101 years:  1918  - 2019.

'We Are Main Street' Campaign Launches!
The 'We Are Main Street' campaign, a celebration of the people who make our Main Street thrive, has launched! Check out the ' We Are Main Street' webpage  to download the official 'We Are Main Street' Campaign Toolkit and join in the effort to showcase the people who power our Salisbury NC Main Street!

Through the year-long 'We Are Main Street' campaign, we have the opportunity to amplify the stories of people who make our Main Street special. Whether it’s a Main Street event-goer who just moved to town or a veteran volunteer who has frequented Main Street for years, we want to take the time to highlight the folks who make our Man Street shine.

We can help celebrate Main Street champions in our community each month for the coming year. If you have stories or people you’d like to see profiled, email [email protected].
Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day - commemorating the end of World War I, honors all of those who have served our country in war or peace — dead or alive (although intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices).

Join us in thanking our Veterans, honoring all who served, on Monday November 11, 2019 ~ and all the days of the year.
