November 2022
mspWellness News
Congratulations to the 2022 recipients of the Minneapolis Micro-Grants!
This fall, each of the five organizations that received mspWellness Micro-Grants completed their wellness projects. The projects ranged from new break rooms in workplaces to encourage stress management, decompression, and healthy eating, to culturally-specific healing sessions led by indigenous healers.

The Minneapolis Regional Chamber and the Minneapolis Health Department congratulates these organizations for all that they have done to enhance employee wellness through sustainable change.
2022 mspWellness Champion Highlight
Each month, we’re highlighting one of the 2022 mspWellness Champions. Champions are organizations that create, implement, and promote wellness programs as part of their organizational culture, and meet the criteria defined by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber and the Hennepin County and City of Minneapolis Departments of Health. The Champion designation program was created to recognize and celebrate organizations who work to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees and communities. November’s featured mspWellness Champion is Dermatology Consultants.

Dermatology Consultants is a physician-owned dermatology practice founded in 1949 with a mission to provide our patients with exceptional skin care in a safe and welcoming environment. They started a workplace wellness program named “Thrive” in 2018. Knowing that employees thrive off having relationships with their coworkers and community members, leaders at Dermatology Consultants focused in 2022 on improving social connection in their organization.

This year, Dermatology Consultants opened lunchrooms back up for employees to eat together on breaks, coordinated potlucks, fresh fruit Fridays, dressed up and decorated for Halloween, created gratitude boards, and hosted employees and their families at a St. Paul Saints baseball game.
More, they began offering wellbeing programs that focused on community involvement with “Step To It,” a team based step challenge, and “Colleagues Connect”, which helped employees engage in more meaningful social connections with colleagues to strengthen and build quality work relationships.

Bill Kenney, CEO of Dermatology Consultants, said “The Thrive program has become a part of the culture of the organization. This is a way that our staff have connected with one another in support of health and wellness for all who work here at Dermatology Consultants.”
