Trunk N Treat Held on Halloween Night

Held at the Park Hills Municipal Parking Lot on West Main Street in Park Hills, the Annual Downtown Park Hills Trunk N Treat features approximately 30 area businesses who dress up their vehicles, dress up their employees, and pass out candy to local trick or treaters.

The event is held on Halloween evening from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  This event is one of Downtown Park Hills' largest with more than 1500 in attendance.

Thank you to this year's treat sponsors! They include:
Krak N Jaks Bakery & Donuts, LLC Opens in Leadington Plaza

Congratulations Krak N Jaks!!! They officially made Leadington their home October 9, 2015 as Chamber Board Members and Ambassadors, Leadington City Officials, and Krak N Jaks staff members watched them cut the ribbon to their newest location at 30 Woodlawn Drive (in Leadington Plaza).

Despite the drizzle, smiles were abundant as owners Markus Clinton and Brandy Worley spoke of their sentimental attachment to their new location; explained that they are more than just a doughnut shop, also offering homemade cakes and cake pops with plans to add specialty items like caramel apples; and expressed their excitement about becoming active in the Chamber and the Community!

Attending a Park Hills - Leadington Chamber Ribbon Cutting is always so much more than just a photo op. Guests enjoyed doughy bits of heaven when Brandy passed out samples of their glazed crescents... a DELICIOUS treat!! And, many of those in attendance also went home with sacks of complimentary donuts - an appreciation gift from Markus and Brandy for joining their celebration.

Unable to make the ribbon cuttings? No problem! Taking the time to welcome our new businesses to the community after the festivities end can also be a "treat"! Chamber Board Member, Donna Hickman, took away two large boxes of donuts when she stopped in to congratulate Marcus and Brandy after the ceremony had concluded. Overwhelmed by their generosity, Donna chose to "pay it forward" by sharing her donuts with various members of the local community, encouraging them to visit Krak N Jaks for themselves!

In conclusion, we want to thank Markus, Brandy, and the Krak N Jaks crew for becoming a valued member of the Park Hills - Leadington Chamber. We are very excited to be working with them on some new Chamber benefits for 2016 too! Stay alert! You won't want to miss it!

When the world's richest man offers career advice, it's smart to listen.

If you're looking for a role model of lifelong success, you can't do much better than Bill Gates. Microsoft, the company he founded, created a whole industry. At a net worth of nearly $80 billion, he's the richest man in the world. His philanthropic activities reach far and wide and have actually made the world a better place. Oh, and he also achieved his dream, which was a personal computer on every desk.

What led to Gates's success? He certainly was in the right place at the right time with the right concept for a product. But over the years, he himself has pointed to some of the attitudes he believes lead to continued success. They're a good guide for anyone, in any field. The personal finance site GOBankingRates has compiled some of them within a piece about how Gates thinks you should spend your money.

By: Peter Roseler  President, Web Marketing Pros

From shopping platforms to local stores, SEO is important for all businesses.

Many business owners know what SEO is and that it's important for a website. While many simply accept this at face value, it's important to understand why SEO is essential for businesses in the modern age. In fact, SEO has grown so important that it's value extends beyond the search engine and even to businesses without a website. Here are four reasons every business owner should care about SEO.

1. Search Rankings Are Extremely Important

Let's start with the obvious. Search Engine Optimization is important because being that the top of search rankings has a huge value for website owners. It's estimated that three out of four clicks from internet searches go to the top five positions on Google. And with nine out of ten (91%) clicks from Google Search going to the results on the first page, the value of SEO is clear. There are millions of pages on the web that can match a potential keyword. Any site that hopes to rank high for a particular word or phrase are going to have to make sure their site's SEO gives them the best possible chance.

Mobile devices have also increased the importance of SEO. With smartphones and tablets, there are more searches being performed than ever before. And with search engines deploying specific algorithms for mobile and local search, there are new opportunities for websites to reach the top of the results.
