A message from our President
Allison Foster
Hello, Tarpon River neighbors!

We hope this reaches you and your family safe.

It is hard to believe it is October, and almost November. It has been an interesting year. It has been a time of flexibility and adjusting to what I continue to hear and learn is our new "normal".

Tarpon River Civic Association continues to serve the community as a resource and advocate.

We have a great slate of candidates for TRCA leadership for the upcoming year. Please see the information below and be on the lookout for information about our December General Meeting to vote the slate in.

It is time for membership renewal! . We ask that you renew your membership and encourage your neighbors to do so, also! (follow this link to renew!) Your membership helps continue to ensure we continue to build community in Tarpon River, advocate for needs of the community, and in times when we can be physically together - to host events like Party in the Park.

Best Regards,
Allison

Tarpon River Civic Association President
Tarpon River Civic Association Board of Directors wants to share our commitment to equitable and respectful treatment of all individuals everywhere and specifically within the Tarpon River Civic Association Boundaries. We understand and acknowledge the problem of systemic racism and discriminatory practices across our country toward many different groups and particularly towards Black Americans. Additionally, we want to reaffirm our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive community in Tarpon River. We recognize we have much work to do and we are committed to cultivate space for ongoing conversations to ensure our community continues to thrive as a place where all feel welcome.

Join us for a Halloween drive-thru experience for the whole family! Load your cars with your fancy princesses, legendary superheroes, spooky ghosts, swashbuckling pirates, and mischievous goblins as you enjoy multiple trick-or-treat stations along each park’s route. All stations will be accessible from the safety of your own vehicle. CDC guidelines and social distancing will be in effect.

Eligible households requesting mortgage and utility assistance may receive up to a maximum of $10,000 in total combined benefits.

The program offers assistance with outstanding payments that fall within the grant performance period from March 2020 to December 2020 and that can be directly attributed to the impacts of COVID-19.
Priority will be given to individuals who did not receive assistance under the COVID-19 State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program.
Fully completed applications will be accepted and reviewed on a first-ready, first-served basis until funding is exhausted. The program will not maintain a waiting list.

How to Apply

Visit the Housing Foundation of America website and complete the personal details section (e.g., name, address, email, phone number, etc.) to access the application packet.

Download and complete the application.

Once the applicant’s residential address is verified as being located within the city limits of Fort Lauderdale, an email will be forwarded to the email address provided by the applicant with directions on how to upload the completed application and supporting documents to a ShareFile account.

Individuals needing assistance may call 1-800-579-4119, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please note: If your residential address is located within the city limits of Fort Lauderdale and you do not receive the email with directions on how to submit the completed application to the ShareFile account, please email Grace at the Housing Foundation of America at [email protected]

COVID-19 Testing at Holiday Park

Free drive-thru COVID-19 self-swab testing continues to be available at Holiday Park. The site, located at U.S. 1 and N.E. 8 Street (just south of Sunrise Boulevard), is open Tuesday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Testing is available to anyone age 5 or older with or without COVID-19 symptoms. No doctor referral needed. Proper ID is required with name, date of birth, address, and photo.

To schedule an appointment for an oral self-swab COVID-19 test, visit florida.curativeinc.com/welcome. Patients who do not receive test results after 72 hours, may contact Curative, Inc. via email at [email protected].

The procedure for the oral self-swab test, which is less invasive than the nasal swab test, requires individuals to swab the inside of their mouth for approximately 20 seconds. The swab sample is then placed in a vial, sealed, and sent to a lab for analysis. Results are delivered to patients via email or text message.

First responders needing tests may use the Sunrise Boulevard entrance. Please have badge or proper ID ready.
Please be aware that inclement weather conditions may cause temporary closures of the facility, which will increase wait times. Please remember to wear a face covering. No walkups accepted. Please see the flyer for more details.
