Have you been thinking about signing up for Honey Creek's Inaugural Disc Golf Tournament, but you think it's not for you? Well, I'm here to tell you you're wrong! This tournament is a fun Saturday event meant to serve Honey Creek's family as well as non-Episcopalians who play disc golf. This event is a low-stress and non-competitive tournament. It's meant to be fun, so please don't stress about your disc-throwing abilities! The important thing is to come enjoy the day at Honey Creek and support us.

We have 23 people signed up so far, and the vast majority of the players are not even members of our Episcopal Diocese!

Please consider attending this tournament with your loved ones on December 1. Registration is from 7:30 to 8:15 and the afternoon round starts after lunch, at approximately 1:30. The fee includes lunch, three custom discs, and a player "swag" bag. Trophy prizes and amazing raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the day as well. To register, go here.

All Saints Tybee Celebrates Diamond Jubilee
On Thursday, Nov 1st at 6 pm, All Saints will celebrate its 60th Diamond Jubilee with reception to follow.  The Bishop will be the presider.  Clergy are asked to wear clericals.
Bishop Knocks on the Door of St. Barnabas
This begins a new feature in From the Field: each week we will focus on the church where the Bishop is making his annual visitation. This week it's St. Barnabas' Valdosta.

Legend has it that parishioner Dr. Buddy Pitts and Bishop Paul Reeves were discussing names for the new church in Valdosta, and as they strolled on the former farmland and future site for the church, they came upon the original barn. Bishop Reeves suggested St. BARNabas!

It is fitting that a recent ministry of the parish, which held its first services in 1982,
Getting ready to plant in one of the nine beds of St. Barnabas' garden.
has been a community garden begun in the spring. "It's given the parish focus and brought people together," said Clerk of the Vestry Kay Riggle. The congregation is encouraging members of the community to both prepare and enjoy the fruits of their labor and several  have taken them up on it. They have also used the garden's produce to make the Sunday lunch that occurs each week after services. "It's important that we have a communal meal at least once a week," said Riggle.

The Brotherhood of St. Barnabas maintains the property and is also available to help parishioners make small household repairs.  They cleared a walking trail behind the church that's a quarter mile long, runs along a creek and comes out near St. Barnabas' outdoor altar.

The garden is reaping benefits beyond the produce it provides by nourishing their neighbors.

Second row, from left: Lay Eucharistic Minister Susan Borchert ; the Rev. Stephen Norris, Priest-in-Charge; Bishop Benhase, the Rev. Leeann Culbreath, Deacon and Lay Eucharistic Minister Greg Frier.
