"I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 1:4–8, NIV)
New Vision Christian Church held a Fifteenth Anniversary of Ministry party for their Senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Kevin Harris and First Lady Jennifer Harris on September 30th.

We celebrate you, too, Dr. Harris! Thank you for being one of our Regional Assembly preachers!
Service Spotlight
Johnny's Café is a robust outreach ministry of the Liberty Christian Church that has fed many people in one location but when the pandemic hit, they went mobile.

We praise God for the emerging creativity and collaboration among Disciples of Christ!
Creative Collaboration!
Northland KC Pastors are meeting virtually monthly to collaborate around missions and exploring ways to share staff expertise.

North by Northwest Pastors pastors are also meeting online and developing plans for shared youth ministry.

Self Awareness Tools
We are most likely to do our best work when it resonates with:
  • Our highest passions
  • Our preferred work styles
  • Our strongest capacities
  • Our most important values

The degree to which we are self-aware may influence the courage we have to make needed changes so that we are flourishing in ministry.

With ministry contexts evolving quickly, get clarity about your own gifts and strengths, then help those with whom you serve do the same. You cannot do everything well and others are waiting to be asked.

Regional Commission on the Order of the Ministry

The Ministry of Clergy Oversight has been renewed to become a Regional Commission on the Order of the Ministry - a model similar to that in other Regions.

We are expanding service and support for clergy and including the wisdom of lay leaders with whom we serve so that the work of clergy formation, support, and collaboration with lay leaders can improve the experience of ministry.

There is a 4 minute video describing the RCOM and a document with more detail.

We are seeking the participation of younger clergy and lay leaders - reflecting more of the rich diversity in our Region - to serve on one of the teams of the RCOM. If you wish to nominate a colleague or volunteer, find what we are looking for in nominees here. Please contact us with your recommendations!
In our Prayers:

  • Family of Rev. Fred Moore who passed from this life (obituary)
  • Rev. Don Wiltfong and his bride Beth - for health and strength
  • Rev. Rob Carr as he prepares for retirement from North Oak Christian Church in November
  • Rev. Mindy Fugarino who will begin her first Sunday as Pastor of Independence Boulevard Christian Church on November 1st.
  • Rev. Josh Patty as he begins his Regional Ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Upper Midwest
  • All clergy currently serving - most putting in overtime for the ninth consecutive month!.

Response to these workshops during our Regional Assembly were so positive that some want to take the next steps and apply what they learned in their ministry settings.

We are creating a separate web page that will be linked on our kcdisciples.org home page. There you will find links to recorded sessions and dates for online conversations with presenters.
