FOSTER DOGS:
Cowboy's Story

Cowboy was surrendered by his owner to the Nassau County shelter on January 10, 2018. He spent over nine months at the shelter before a foster angel took him home.

Cowboy hates being confined in his kennel, He barks and jumps up and down. His kennel behavior no doubt was the reason why he did not get adopted. Once he is out of his kennel and gets over the initial excitement of being free, he is a different dog.

Cowboy has limited vision in his left eye. One of the dog walkers noted that he tends to get a bit startled if something approaches him from the left. He gets along with other dogs but tends to be protective of his food dish.

SPOT'S IS LOOKING FOR A FUREVER HOME
Spots before and Spots after
Poor little spots. When he came to the county shelter as a stray on July 5th. He was fearful, growling and fear snapping. His hair was thin and he was covered in fleas. He had been neglected and perhaps even abused. He was been adopted twice only to return for defensive biting.

Spots is in a foster home and he is progressing. He is still a bit temperamental, but overall much less fearful and less defensive. He follows his foster mom everywhere and never wants to leave her side. Spots is learning to trust again and he will be a wonderful pet. He would do best in an adult household that offers him a lot of freedom and companionship.

Spots is approximately six years old and weighs thirteen pounds. He loves to go on walks and roll in the grass, he even likes baths. He is housebroken and he likes other dogs.

If you know someone who can give this little guy a loving home. please share this newsletter with them.

We need Fosters!

We need caring people to take special needs dogs while they recover from illness or injury until we can place them in a furever home. The foster period could be a few days to a few months. If you love dogs, but you can't make a long term commitment to own one, fostering may be the answer.
WE NEED YOU!

We need volunteers to help with event planning, marketing, social media and photography and dog walking. If you love animals, have some skills and can devote a little of your time, contact us.
SOME OF OUR RESCUE DOGS:
BEFORE FAN - - - AFTER FAN
Friends of Animals Nassau (FAN) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Nassau County Florida. FAN focuses on finding homes for dogs and assists in their medical care, including heartworm treatment. FAN is NOT an animal shelter, instead we keep dogs in loving foster homes with caring people while they undergo treatment until we find them a furever home. We are able to help dogs through the work of our tireless volunteers, our fundraising events, our generous sponsors and your contributions. All donations are tax deductible.
