Debbie donates her hair to Wigs for Kids

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Chamile Ghorayeb of Studio CEO Salon & Spa cut CHMF Co-Founder Debbie Higgins' hair during his lunch hour in honor of his sister who passed away from Leukemia at the age of 24.

Debbie donated 14 inches of hair to Wigs For Kids, an organization providing real-hair wigs to children who have experienced hair loss due to medical conditions. To learn how you can donate your hair to this cause, visit https://www.wigsforkids.org/donate-your-hair/.

Bath Elementary School teachers participate in Akron Marathon raising money for CHMF

Akron Marathon raises money for CHMF

Carson was a phenomenal student and a wonderful soul that was taken too early from this world. We would love if you could find it in your heart to help support this wonderful cause and donate." -- Kelly Worsencroft, Bath Elementary teacher

Congratulations to all the finishers in the First Energy Akron Marathon last week. As a Blue Line Charity, marathon participants could choose to raise money for our foundation. One such group was a team of teachers from Bath Elementary School, led by Kelly Worsencroft, who taught Carson. This group has raised $870 for CHMF. If you would like to support their efforts, you can make a donation on their team marathon page

Lindsay Watson, CEO and Co-Founder of Augment Therapy spoke about the impact this technology -- made possible by the Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation -- is having for pediatric patients at University Hospital Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. John Higgins shared the Foundation's vision and thanked donors for their support.

Founded in 2017, the Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation enhances the quality of life for children facing cancer and other life challenges by funding programs that provide therapeutic, medical and educational opportunities.

Carson Gene Higgins courageously faced neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that affects the body’s nervous system. While Carson’s life was short, it was rich with faith, hope, love, and strength. His examples of kindness and generosity encourage us to live and love richly, to take each day as a gift, and to give generously. Together, we can bring hope to other families facing difficult and sometimes devastating life challenges. Learn more about Carson’s story and CHMF’s commitment at www.carsonstrong.org.
