2022 mspWellness Champion Highlight
|
Each month, we’re highlighting one of the 2022 mspWellness Champions. Champions are organizations that create, implement, and promote wellness programs as part of their organizational culture, and meet the criteria defined by the Minneapolis Regional Chamber and the Hennepin County and City of Minneapolis Departments of Health. The Champion designation program was created to recognize and celebrate organizations who work to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees and communities. To learn more about the Champion designation program, visit mspwellness.com/champions.
At HealthSource Solutions, employees’ mental health is a top priority. The organization’s vision is to enrich employee wellbeing and as they work with individual companies to implement their own Mental Health strategies and programming, they make sure to practice what they preach.
Healthsource Solutions’ internal wellbeing program has made an initiative to offer additional mental health benefits for employees, with several newly added benefits:
- Health coaching for navigating a wide array of topics.
- An 8-week learning lab on Work Happier Now through their internal wellbeing platform. The new resource helped employees build confidence, self-worth, and overall happiness, and gave them a roadmap for improving work-life balance.
- Animo, which is a behavior change-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), that teaches practical skills and coping strategies for depression, anxiety, and stress.
- Text Coach, which is a secure and stigma-free messaging platform that allows participants to connect with a licensed mental health clinician to address mental and emotional health concerns
- 8 hours of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) for all employees to use to give back to their community. We find that giving back to others impacts our mental health in more ways than we realize.
- Mental health coffee chats focusing on self-care, stress-coping strategies, and resources through trainings, apps, podcasts, and books
HealthSource Solutions’ dedication to employee health is evident, inspiring, and is scaling to meet the growing needs of employees in today’s work environment. mspWellness is proud to have named HealthSource Solutions a 2022 Wellness Champion and we look forward to seeing the continued success of their organization and its employees!

It’s National Diabetes Awareness Month!
|
|
More than 37 million American adults have diabetes, and another 96 million have prediabetes. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month which is a good time for employers to evaluate whether their health and wellness benefits are helping employees with diabetes stay healthy and productive.
How Employers Can Get Involved:
- Tell your health insurance provider(s) you would like the DPP to be a covered benefit (Minnesota’s large health insurance providers offer access to the DPP to self-insured employers).
- Include prediabetes awareness education through internal websites, bulletin boards, newsletters, social media, and other available channels. Include only healthy food and beverage options in vending machines, cafeterias, and at employer-sponsored events.
- Provide free diabetes screenings for employees and their spouses, perhaps offering participation incentives.
- Offer a comprehensive worksite wellness program for all employees
