Loraine Lee grew up in Northern California and as a teenager she planned to be a dentist; she enrolled at the University of the Pacific, well known for its dental program. But after landing a job with the Department of Agriculture, she knew she wanted to work with plants and bugs, and wouldn't be happy working indoors in a dental office. She spends her days mostly outdoors visiting with vineyard and orchard managers from the San Joaquin Valley to the Oregon border. Loraine is an expert in mating-disruption technology and helps growers to mitigate the pesky Vine Mealy Bug from their vineyards. Here's her story.
