Meet the Team: Staff Spotlight of the Month
Judi Nykl - Marketing & Multimedia Assistant
One of our two newest recruits for the 2019 Festival, thanks to the support of the Canada Summer Jobs Program!
4 Questions for Judi:
1. What brought you to Powell River?
I was originally just planning to stay for just the Summer to see what living out of the city was like but that was now 2 years ago. Once you get here it’s hard to justify leaving again.

2. What is it about PRISMA that inspires you?
That people travel from all over the world to a place they’ve most likely never been to work with people they’ve never met only to create something so beautiful. In short: the willingness to learn and grow.

3. Tell us 3 fun facts about yourself!
  • I was born in the Czech Republic and am still fluent
  • I can play the accordion
  • I have an extensive VHS collection

4. What song best describes your life, and why?
As predictable as it is I’d have to go with Hey Jude. It’s such a sweet song. I liked pretending the lyrics were just for me when I was a kid.
PRISMA on the Beach Highlights
Thanks to all who joined us at Willingdon last Saturday!
What a fabulous night at PRISMA on the Beach ! We counted at least 2,000 of you in the crowd. Thanks to all of our performers, vendors, volunteers and crew.

Congratulations to Arwen Anderson, 9, who won our Star Wars prize draw with the cutest Chewbacca costume ever!
#FollowTheStudents
...What do 78 PRISMA students do on their day off, anyways?
Sunday, June 23 was a day of rest for our international students and guest artists. Some slept, others practiced, but most explored beautiful Powell River – hiking the trails, swimming in the lakes, and eating at the myriad of exciting restaurants in town.
Did someone say 'Coffee'?
We are thrilled to announce a brand new merchandise item for sale at PRISMA 2019: The 'Accelerando' Blend

This delicious fusion of dark and medium-roast beans was crafted in partnership with our friends at River City coffee! They've had a presence in our community since 1994 and have been providing coffee to our staff and students for the past several years.

At $20/bag, with proceeds going to PRISMA programs, Accelerando makes a great souvenir to take home. Pick some up at our merchandise booth, open at all concerts and events this year.
PRISMA in the Media
Did you know? Maestro Arthur Arnold stopped by the Breakfast Television Vancouver studios recently and chatted with Riaz Meghji just before the start of the PRISMA Festival. Watch it here!

The June edition of Powell River Living featured a chat with Arthur and hockey star Brad Bombardir on the similarities between elite athletes and top-tier musicians. Check it out. Plus, weekly coverage in the Peak!
