Dear Colleagues,
As Co-Directors of the Pacific West Hub, we are proud to be part of the new Center for Mental Health Implementation Support (CMHIS), supporting organizations in HHS Regions 9 and 10.
CMHIS and each bi-regional Hub supports a national initiative to improve the implementation and sustainment of effective mental health practices.
We recognize that every system has unique strengths and challenges. Our goal is to provide implementation support to health care organizations and health systems using practical, tailored strategies, resources and tools that can lead to meaningful and lasting change.
Thanks to our partners, our Advisory Board, and organizations like you, we can reach our communities to support the often-complex process of preparing for, implementing, and sustaining evidence-based and community driven prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
We’re excited to share recent highlights and accomplishments from our Hub, and we look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and build alongside with you. Our team is grateful for opportunities to collaborate and support the critical work in our communities to increase the availability of high-quality mental health services. We look forward to connecting with you soon!
Warm regards,
Christina & Lydia

| | | FROM THE FIELD: Supporting the 'How' of Practice Change | | |
In June, our Co-Directors and Evaluator presented a session at the Washington Behavioral Healthcare Conference (WBHC) held in Kennewick, WA. Our session was titled, "Making It Stick: Tools to support the ‘how’ of practice change." We provided an overview of the process of implementation and engaged in dialogue about barriers and facilitators faced when implementing a new practice or program.
Across settings, it's clear we face similar challenges in launching and sustaining practices or programs, whether those challenges are related to characteristics of the practice; the people who deliver the services or those who receive it; or the clinics, organizations, systems, or communities where care is provided. Thank you to everyone who came out and was willing to share their experiences!

IMPLEMENTATION SCIENCE TOPIC:
Measurement-Based Care
| | |
Measurement-based care (MBC) is the clinical approach of using regularly collected patient-reported outcome measures to monitor progress and inform treatment decisions.
In early August, we launched two introductory sessions on MBC presented by Pacific West Hub Co-Director Lydia Chwastiak, MD, MPH, and UW AIMS Center Co-Director Anna Ratzliff, MD, PhD.
During these sessions, we gave a brief overview of MBC and heard more about challenges leaders are having implementing MBC in their settings. Follow-up sessions are coming up in September. See "Learning Opportunities" above to learn more and register!
