Hello Phoenix Family,
With Hurricane Dorian approaching, we are closely monitoring the storm and the potential impact that it will have on our school and community. OCPS has already canceled school for Tuesday, September 3rd. Updates on closures will be sent by the district. All of us here at the nest hope that you and your family are well prepared and remain safe.
Parents, we are noticing some safety concerns with the drop offs and pickups in our car line. Some cars are skipping ahead in the second lane, dropping off in the lot area, and/or not pulling all the way up causing hold ups. I realize that there may be times that we are running late, or are in a hurry, but the safety of our students should never be sacrificed. Please help to keep all of our Phoenixes safe by adhering to the procedures set in place. We thank you for your continued support.
There is always a lot to celebrate at Innovation Middle School, and this week didn't disappoint! As you walk in building 1, the sounds of our students rehearsing for our upcoming performance echo in the halls. In athletics, our soccer season started with our season opener at Lake Nona Middle School. The girls team showed great improvement as they fought hard and hustled the entire game. Unfortunately, the Lake Nona girls had more shots on goal and ultimately won. Our boys team also did exceptionally well, defeating Lake Nona 5-4 in penalty kicks!
It is truly great to be an Innovation Middle School Phoenix!
Sincerely,
Andrew Nelson
