The Moving Message Walk and Festival, 2026

Wall of Wins

Jenn Morrill in the Career and Self-Discovery Center writes:

“Special thank you to Opalka Director Amy Griffin for continuing to encourage our students and faculty to stop by the exhibits in Opalka! Two of my WRT 101 sections visited this week, and for many of my first-year students, it was their first time being exposed to the Opalka Gallery. Thank you for helping create experiences like this for our students! It really makes a difference and gives them opportunities to engage with something outside of the traditional classroom.”

And Jule Hart and Emily Mooney of the Aphasia Center had tons of gratitude for colleagues who helped make The Moving Message Walk and Festival on September 12 such a success:

Thank you to Assistant Director of Facilities Sara D’Aversa and Director of Conferences and Events Jody Diedrich for their support in preparing for and putting on annual Moving Message Walk. If it weren’t for them there would not have been an event!

A huge shout out to Facilities for tables, chairs and tents. And Kevin Blais in Maintenance for working Saturday and helping everything run smoothly. We are so grateful.

Thank you Sara Carlson, Katie Danico, and Teri Gartland in Advancement for your support and management of all of our donations!

Huge shout out to VP of Marketing and Communications Jenn Gish for getting the Times Union and CBS 6 to share stories about the Moving Message. And to Social and Digital Media Specialist Kaseem Gomez for taking pictures throughout this special event!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to faculty members Becky Bernhardt from OT; Tracy Gilbert from Expressive Arts in Mental Health; Dave DeBonis, Jack Pickering, and Katelynn Carroll from Speech-Language Pathology; and Amy Dixon and Jolene Caresio from Nursing, and all of their students who joined us at The Moving Message, as well as the students in the Future Teachers Club.

🟦 🟩 Please visit the Wall of Wins to recognize a colleague’s hard work, or to share a recent accomplishment of your own!
